Love the app. Best app for sports news but found a bug

Firstly, this app is worthy of a 5 ⭐️rating. Content is amazing, really informative, best in the business. Use the app every day for keeping up to date with US sport. However, found a UI bug that is preventing user selected input on “Stories” & “Game Results” in Preferences and Alerts for leagues and teams followed within the app. I have some teams and leagues I follow that I want to keep following however, I don’t want to receive game results or breaking news. Only way I have found around this is to unfollow the league or team which I don’t want to do. The support received was less than helpful. I have a video and a screenshot of the error I keep receiving which I have supplied to support which I don’t think they have watched so don’t understand the issue. They keep directing me to settings on the web app that would not affect push notifications on my iPhone. I am aware of other users having the same issue. Hopefully this gets fixed soon.

Time and money well spent

I love The Athletic. Having subscribed for nearly a year now I find the writing brilliant and the writers engaging. It’s great value for money and beats, hands-down, other sites if you are looking for U.K. football coverage and top quality journalism.

The opportunity to discuss this with the journalists is great too and the conversations are often interesting and considered with their engagement a really nice touch and their personalities allowed to shine through into their work.

There’s no click-bait, no adverts, no ‘The Athletic Bet’ waiting to cash-in on the sensationalist journalism and poorly sourced rumours.

Podcasts are a great addition and, although still available elsewhere, the advert-free versions in The Athletic make it worthwhile to deviate from your usual podcast platform.

The only gripe I have is that recent app updates have made the ‘My Feed’ increasingly cluttered. I love the feed idea, pulling all the stories you’re most likely to be interested in based on your previous use and pre-set ‘followed’ clubs, leagues and authors into one place. However, it’s recently become overrun with the podcasts and the discussions, and the app struggles to track what you read across different devices. Really hope that this will get some attention, perhaps by way of a little more user-control over what does and doesn’t get put into your feed.

That aside, this is pretty much perfect sports journalism.

Genuinly worth the price!

I don’t normally write reviews, but I felt compelled for The Athletic. As an English Arizona Cardinals fan, easy-to-access high-quality articles written by journalists who know their stuff is hard to come by. The Athletic has completely solved all this; I got offered a 60% discount with a free trial and after four days found myself paying the $24 early - absolutely phenomenal value! What I love about the articles is that they’re not just limited to one team or one sport but every major sport and every major team, including college which makes it great for someone starting to follow the Longhorns.

With something like this you always expect a downside; however, with the Athletic I’m yet to find one. The app is truly amazing: easy to use and navigate with helpful feature like save and ‘read’ icons, as well as a scores tab and the ability to listen to podcasts within the app.

My only gripe would be that I would love to be able to customise ‘your feed’ to be just strictly about the teams I follow and nothing else, so that I have a centralised place to read all about my teams, as well as singular team feeds.

Apart from that, I couldn’t be more excited to read more on The Athletic as it is truly one-of-a-kind; keep going guys and keep up the excellent work!
