A lot better
In the new update, Blades has improved so much! Now that the chest timers have been removed, the game has a less pay to win feel. The combat system had improved a lot as well. After the initial release, I played it quite a bit, but as I reached around lvl 20, things got slow and I had to grind for ages to get anything done. I’d get a legendary chest then have to wait a day to get the loot, even though I’d spent quite a while trying to clear a really hard level. The grinding interrupted the flow of the story as well, which is a bit picky, but true.
The actual amount of loot has gone up as well, so hopefully I won’t have to wait a long time to gather resources to level up my town to do certain quests. Trying to level up your town to play a storyline quest that is now really easy by that time really bugged me. I’m not sure whether that’ll be better yet, but I hope it is.
So yep, Blades is better now, and I think I’ll enjoy it a lot more than I used to. I haven’t tried out the arena yet, but I’ve been waiting a long time for it to be unlocked, so I’m hopeful.
Edit: The new arena is pretty good! The ranking system is really well done, and I’m enjoying the experience. One tiny problem is that when you lose, you lose a lot of points, but maybe that’s just my bad fighting.
A few tweaks would improve things but overall this is fantastic.
Chests take too long to open, it’s too easy to accidentally spend your gems on opening one and the combat seems a little disproportionate with earlier enemies like goblins, as you level up ie they become much harder to kill when if anything they should be a little easier. I too would like to be able to free roam outside of the city as at the moment my world is quite small within those gates. Though I’m guessing the harbour may be open to me in future?? A few tweaks would improve things but overall this is fantastic. That said I feel the slating comments and low scores are not deserved, this is an early access and can be played for hours without spending anything. It’s looks good plays well and has plenty of time to be enhanced, maybe if they had a ‘paid’ version that gave you massive reductions in waiting times and a world expansion a lot would pay to play, but they have to make money somehow. Also, aren’t they after feedback to improve for full release?
Final thought... can you give us a way to filter the potions by type
Awesome graphics, good combat, pay to play and pay a lot
Let's start with negatives, pay to win is obvious but in this game after you progress a bit it's going in to pay to play as you can't earn gold to do anything usually it's a challenge to figure out how to do any mission in the way that will give you more gold then you need to repair your gear. In addition to that every update was focused to patch every possible way of earning gold without spending £££. There is no way to play it as a small spender as 20£ is good for day or two, they removed artefacts from the store that cost around 10£ and allow you to progress for days, now you can only gamble for 25£ per loot box that can or can not give you anything useful.
Now positives. Graphics are awesome it's truly looks good. Combat is really satisfying. A lot of weapons, nice crafting system. Main story and campaign is good as for mobile game.
My final rating is only 2 star because even tho it's good game, it's not worth ridiculous amount of money to play it for more then early lvls. For 60£ you can buy any AAA game on console or PC, here 60£ will last you maybe a week if you spend it well. Additionally when you spend money you feel really bad about it as whatever your plan will be very next patch will make it useless and you will need to spend money again, such a basic thing as character respec cost 11£, and 25£ loot box can give you nothing for your class.
