The Event App by EventsAIR 17+

I’ve never used an app like this before so maybe a bit more sympathetic to it. I really like the ability to take notes and export them. This is a much more efficient system than I would usually use but, and it’s a pretty big but, the app is so glitchy! I’ve had to restart my phone numerous times over the last couple of days as the app kept freezing. Very frustrating.

This is the absolute worst example of an event app. I don’t understand the need for these apps that provide agenda, lead scanning, social and whatever else. Either way, the implementation is awful.

Firstly, the app assumes you are on a lightning fast network. Anyone who has been at a real conference centre will know that both WiFi and 4/5G networks are typically slow and overloaded. Having an app that checks in EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU SWITCH TO IT OR UNLOCK YOUR SCREEN is an absolute disaster. Not only that every 2nd time there will be an update. I appreciate this may be done by the event and not the fault of the app, but having the pop up ask every time is awful.

The worst thing is though it’s just slow. We have been required to use it as a lead scanner for people visiting our stand. It takes forever and is embarrassing when somebody is stood there holding their badge out and they have to wait while the app checks in, then pops up that there’s an update, that I have to say no to, then when I click ‘lead scanner’ I have to wait while it, again, goes off to the cloud to provide my lead list, then eventually gives me the camera to scan.

Some kind of offline ability needs to be provided as the experience for exhibitors and attendees is embarrassing. If you are an exhibition considering this tool, please don’t. Your exhibitors will hate you, it’s a thoroughly unpleasant experience and there are many better alternatives.

Great potential. But truly awful in current form.

No landscape ability.

Constant cycling of pulling data.

Trying to select a favourite is hit and miss - doesn’t update in real time and you need to go away from a page to see it.

Cannot delete news event that you’ve read.

Calendar interface / agenda looks several years old.

Floor plan doesn’t exist

Search functionality frustrating as is trying to remove filters

The list goes on but so disappointed as it has limited usage requiring need to carry around a conference booklet as well.

One star only because you can’t give no stars.
