Beautifully designed and easy to navigate, this app from the award-winning newspaper delivers the intelligent stories and thought-provoking analysis that the periodical has been known for since it launched way back in 1821. From insight into the evolving pop-culture scene to the latest breaking news, The Guardian provides incisive coverage in a thoroughly modern format through captivating photo essays, thoughtful op-eds, essential sports reports and even interactive crossword puzzles.

Review 1&2…

This from a few years back…
Until their latest attempt to de-stabilise left of centre politics with this week’s latest attack on Corbyn I remained rooting for the The Grauniad. They now clearly jumped in to bed with the beeb. The Manchester founders would be disappointed their ideals were not protected from infiltrators...

And this now in July ‘22…
Well as the UK descends into free fall disaster thanks to Tory corruption and sleaze we have to look back at the last election and ask how, with all the warning signs starkly apparent, did the Tories get in again and Labour lose so badly? Of course it’s largely because we have a mainly gullible and greedy electorate but who was fanning the flames and feeding the fire of disaster? The Guardian has done much good since then with quality investigative journalism and a relentless pursuit of evidence truth and exposure but perhaps this was prompted by its failure to do so effectively in the run-up to that last election and we wouldn’t be where we are now if they’d taken the current approach earlier and got behind Labour then? Keep up the good work Guardian and build on it.

Some really irritating things

Just keeps getting worse. Now constantly logs me out even though I've paid my subscription, with cumbersome login process to get back in. Guardian really needs to start listening to subscribers. It does everything it can think of to stop paying subscribers actually reading articles they've paid to read.

The latest is when you're on one of their live feed pages. A pop-up will appear telling you that there is an update available and make it difficult to read the feed you were reading. The pop-up (in bright yellow - you can't miss it) will not budge until you give in, decide to lose your place in the feed, and go to the top again to read the update. When you have done this, scrolled back down, finally found the interesting bit you were reading when you were interrupted, you get another pop-up forcing you to do the same again. Come on Guardian, get this sorted, the pop-up should fade away after a couple of seconds and let your readers get on with reading.

Another irritation is how often this app interrupts your reading to insist you rate how bad it is - hence this latest addition to my negative review. Seriously, if you want us to read your articles then let us do so without your needy, nagging interruptions!
