Description

Take a life-changing journey through the eyes of Leo, a young boy forced to flee Nazi Germany. An interactive story game to learn about identity, friendship and kindness.

PLOT
Move through 10 richly animated episodes in the touching story of Leo. You are Leo. Your start point is a happy childhood in Berlin in 1933. Advance from there through 5 years of events that shook the world — and explore how they change the life of this one Jewish boy. Along the way, meet Leo's friends Fritz, Peter and Margot. Walk the steps Leo takes, leading up to the November Pogrom in 1938 — ‘Kristallnacht’, the night everything changed. Then wrestle with a family decision: should Leo stay with his mother and father in Nazi Germany? Or escape on the famous ‘Kindertransport’? What is it like to face life as a child refugee, forced to leave home for a new life in a strange new country — all by yourself? The story game ends here. But the journey will carry on in your mind.

INTERACTIVE ROLE PLAY
Immerse yourself in Leo’s life. Search fully explorable environments to find everyday objects in rooms, under furniture and on the streets. You’ll also discover items that change Leo's life. Log what happens in his diary. Resolve the questions that pop up in each episode, before you can move to the next.

It’s compelling and it’s not just for children

There are lessons to be learned in this app, no matter your age. I found myself feeling quite vulnerable part way through - wondering what was around the next corner.

It’s a very well designed app and has beautiful graphics, animations and sounds. It took me around 90 minutes to go through it, which alone makes it extremely good value for money.

It fits in with the exhibition of The Journey at the Holocaust Museum near Laxton, in Nottinghamshire, so if you enjoy this app then I’d definitely recommend that you visit the exhibition too.

Good history learning tool

This app tells the story of a Jewish boy called Leo who goes on the Kindertransport programme to England. It starts with Leo and his friends talking about Hitler and ends with him going to Britain. One of the episodes is about Kristallnacht and Leo’s family shop being smashed up by the Hitler Youth. Another episode shows him at school where he is bullied for being Jewish. This App helped me understand that before 1933 German Jews were normal members of society, but soon were treated like animals by people who would have been friends. It made me think how normal people can do terrible things.

Very interesting

Interesting take on the story and exploring game. Good to go through the rooms searching for objects and the questions made my daughter think. We will continue exploring until we finish and I will look at the lessons you can download.
