This is a multitouch synth instrument. Play it by touching and swiping the screen, changing the waveforms and sliding the effects to create anything from traditional sci-fi theremin sounds to deep scuzzy soundscapes. Use the looper controls to record, loop and overdub layers. Then if you wish to save or share your recording, hit the download button to send your wav file to other compatible apps like Messages, Email, Dropbox etc.
The original Theremin went live in 2014 on the web at femurdesign.com/theremin. Over a million hits later and hundreds of requests for a record button, I have redesigned it. Now the Theremin is ready for you to experiment with.

Gizmodo "Just mess around! Twiddle those faders! Swipe and click with reckless abandon! Turn the volume all the way up, give the dog a panic fit, and make your neighbours think the street's being invaded by giant cabbage people from planet Zok. Trust me, this will never get old.”
Dangerous Minds “New online theremin simulator kind of sounds cooler than the real thing. Check it out and annoy your co-workers.”
Mashable “Messing around with this virtual theremin is completely addicting”

Magnificent Theremin App
This is the best Theremin app I've found, been a fan of the web based one and eagerly anticipated the standalone version. And was thrilled by it. Most theremin apps I have tried are "notchy", but this has smooth frequency changes whatever speed you play it. And to reply to a previous review, it is perfectly possible to play individual notes by swing up from the sliders to the top of the playing area. The "scuzz" which is actually ring modulation is brilliant, and the three sliders work quickly (on iPhone 5s). I'm getting an iPad soon so really looking forward to launching the app on that.
If you want to play Hawkwind style space rock there is no competition to this app and I will definitely use it in any future guest spots with the crusty old bird!
I have spent hours playing on this now. Very easy to pick up and make some sound.. After a while it even starts to sound good. Starting to wonder if I can use this in a live setting as a full on instrument.
Needs work to make it a half decent app
My major gripe with this"instrument" is that you cannot fade the notes in. With a tiny amount of thought this would be easy to implement by just separating the play and effect areas.
Secondly the iPad screen does not have enough precision to accurately tap a reliable note, Multiple scales with tuneable accuracy would fix that.
Finally take a look at Bebot or Animoog if you want great playability. This app has got a long way to go before it becomes musical.
Up to six family members will be able to use this app with Family Sharing enabled.
