Everyone needs a task manager – and this Apple Design Award winner is adaptable enough for anyone. Organising items is as simple as dragging them where you want them, and the Magic Plus button makes it easy to add to-dos from anywhere in the app.

  • Helped me through a tough time

I’d already been a regular user of Things for a while, but it took on a whole new importance when my mother was hospitalised for several weeks (she’s OK!). I needed to take over looking after her home and doing her shopping, laundry, etc, while still dealing with my own stuff, and visiting the hospital every evening (a two-hour round trip). It was also my busiest time at work, so rather than taking time off, I was having to work overtime; plus, I was the only point of contact for many friends and family who wanted daily updates on how my mother was doing.Constantly having new tasks fired at me by every part of the above, there’s no way I could have kept track without Things. Many jobs would have been overlooked if I hadn’t been able to quickly throw them into the Inbox for later prioritisation. Even though I was hugely busy and stressed, Things gave me confidence that it would store tasks for me, so I didn’t have to remember everything and could focus on what needed doing right away.I now recommend it to everybody. I gifted it to a couple of people who were dubious about the price, and they paid me back once they realised its value.

  • Organise Your Streaming On Things

I have used Things for a few years now mostly for my work and was a little bit annoyed that I could not upgrade my original Things without purchasing it again. However, since I have now retired, I have found this an amazing app to keep a track of my Netflix viewing. I have set up projects of what I have watched, what is in my watchlist, things I have watched and waiting for the next series, things I have watched and have finished, things on my watch list and things I need to investigate further. I have found this to be an amazing tracking app which I would never remember in my head. This is just something I felt I needed to do for myself and thought it might help others? I also use it as my go to app to list all the events for the year ahead so I can see clearly what I need to do, need to be done. I love it and have always loved it. It is a great organiser, clear and concise. I know exactly what I need to do and when. Love the repeat function for annual events and love to see the log book to see what I have done. Worth every penny in my opinion.

Glad to hear that Things is helping you stay on top of your shows on Netflix! Enjoy!

  • Welcome back! Now reconsidering this purchase

I abandoned Things 2 last year for 2Do as Things couldn't keep up. Things 3 has easily overtaken and is now way out in front. It doesn't just list, it really helps to organise days and weeks. So many good things, but still entirely uncluttered interface. That said, the Mac version is just too much money in addition to both iOS versions. I paid the Mac too as i wanted quick entry with auto-fill - which doesn’t work (see below)Update (March 2018) there is now a quick entry from Mail, not very elegant and quickly clutters the todo text. But we have now LOST quick entry from any app on the Mac version! Not happy with that as it was the main reason for paying the very high cost to get just that facility. Basically the Things Helper keeps uninstalling itself, and having now tried to re-install it many times, I've give up. I reported this to Things support ages ago and they said -oh yes, lots of other people are reporting this too. But so far, nothing has been done.

  • This has made my life better

I wrote a long review but my iPad deleted it just as I was finishing. So I’ll just say that there is something very, very calming about this app. It’s really good at stopping everything getting overwhelming, so you just see what you need to see. The only extra feature I’d like is to be able to choose, on some projects, for completed tasks to remain. It’s often helpful to see what’s left to do in the context of what you’ve already done - and it can be really good for morale. As it is, you can only choose to log all or none of your completed tasks.Update: the more I use this app, the happier I am with it. I use it on iPad, iPhone and laptop every day, and it really does help me be productive without getting in the way or overwhelming me.

  • Excellent but with a serious failing

    Plarza

I have used Things since its inception and Things 3 is a massive advance . But it has one major omission in my view. I appreciate the desire to make the look uncluttered but no longer being able to give entries a clear label showing degree of urgency is a serious step back. I used to be able to make many own customised flags and they showed clearly against each item. Yes you can still make them but all that shows is a generic tiny symbol indicating that there is a flag attached. Before Things 3 the flag would actually show so you could have “ Very Urgent” or “Urgent” clearly showing . Now I have to use a clunky workaround with the today/someday symbol. So we should have at least the option of the flag displaying. Apart from that, its superb.

  • Brilliant App

Disclaimer: I have only had this app for a week at the time of the review.I purchased this app to try and put some order in my very chaotic work and home life. It has really helped me to focus and to set SMART objectives and targeted goals that are achievable for various projects at work. It also helps coordinate all the different weddings that we are invited too with the dates, rsvp deadlines, gift lists etc. The interface is really easy to use but it does take a bit of getting used to initially as there is a bit of a learning curve. The major downside is that you have to pay separately for the iPhone app (I use this mainly on my iPad Pro). Overall, a great app for organising life, easy to use and seamless integration with icloud.

  • The Best Productivity App

    kasparas_m

I have been using Things 3 on my Macbook, iPhone, Apple Watch and iPad since its launch day. I must say it is the best productivity app that I have used. It is extremely simple to use and using it I truly stay on top of my things.I gave it 4 stars to encourage developers to introduce support for keyboard shortcuts on iPad like most modern apps do. For example, it would be convenient to press Cmd+N to make a new task instead of reaching for the '+' button on the screen. Also, It would be nice if I could use Things on a public computer. Wunderlist has a nice web interface for your to-dos that you can access anywhere you go and I wish that Things had something similar. It might be a difficult feature to implement, but given the price that we pay for Things apps, I think it is definitely reasonable.

  • Read reviews and buy this

    BeUnstoppable

I originally read an article on Flipboard about this app and thought it would suit my needs, I thought long and hard because to have it across my three platforms (Mac, iPad & iPhone) would not be cheap. I downloaded the iPad version thinking I would try it for a week or two and then decide, within 30 minutes I'd purchased all three apps. Awesome and worth every penny or cent depending where you're from.I wanted an app that I could use daily for all my reminders, to-do's, actions, thoughts etc Things 3 is making me paperless no more post it notes. My home doc is now Safari, Mail, Things 3 & Messages. It's not often I write a review however I highly recommend this, you won't be disappointed.

  • Updated Review

    mashofbrands

After waiting so long for Things 3 to be released, initially I was massively underwhelmed feeling Things 3 to be an evolution rather than the revolution we’d been promised. Recently I decided to commit again to Things and I’m really pleased I did. I think perhaps I’d come in expecting too much when, it’s in Thing’s simplicity lies its power, and why I’ve used it from its first incarnation. I have two very minor negative points:This is a truly beautiful looking app save for the green colour used for tags! I don’t need colour coded tags but, I’d at least like the ability to change away from this green! Finally, why I don’t currently give it 5 stars is a lack of location based reminders in IOS. This feels like a really odd omission given how ubiquitous they are these days in other apps. Hopefully this comes in a future update.UPDATE 04/18 - I’ve recently been trying out a beta version of a major Things competitor (you know what app I mean). Like many I’m constantly hoping to find the perfect app however, the more I use Things 3, the more I realise how close to perfect this actually is. Things 3 is a genuinely useful app, looks amazing, and incredibly powerful. I highly recommend this app!

  • Good but limited

    Grellow

If you want a really simple task organiser, Things3 is great. Although expensive to use on several devices, it has a lovely clean interface, and syncs really well. It’s actually a pleasure to use. But … it’s a bit limited, especially if you like to plan ahead. When I look at my tasks due Tomorrow, they appear in a completely random order that can’t be changed. Apparently applying a basic sort order (e.g. by project!) has been logged as a feature request. But there is no transparency about this — let alone a published development backlog or roadmap. After enjoying my experience with Things, I’ll be moving on soon to something a lot more flexible. I wish I’d chosen that route in the first place — it would have saved me a lot of time & money.
