ThinkNinja is designed for children and young people (11-18 years old) to provide a range of skills for mental health, emotional wellbeing and symptoms of anxiety and low mood.
As soon as you open ThinkNinja, you’ll meet me…Wise Ninja!! I’m your very own personal guide to help you on your journey of ups and downs with mood. If you’re feeling low, stressed or anxious, I have lots of cool and fun ideas and skills that will help manage your mood and to deal with the stuff life throws at you. You’ll learn ways to feel healthier and happier through skills which will stay with you forever. I’m also a motivator to help you build the courage to try new skills and to make changes in your daily life that will create a difference to your overall wellbeing. This is all done in a really fun and interactive way!
I’ll help you monitor and track areas such as mood, sleep and activity, and provide useful support and tips to manage stressful situations such as exams. You can talk with me about how you’re feeling and from there I can help guide you! I’m around whenever you need me, day and night.
Here are some examples I can help with to give you an idea:
Feeling stressed, worried or anxious about things in life such as relationships, exams, going out seeing friends or shopping
Feeling low, tired and negative about yourself or life
Having unhelpful thoughts that stop you from enjoying life such as “something bad is going to happen” or “they think I’m stupid” or “what if they don’t like me” or “I’m going to fail if I do this”
If you have physical symptoms such as fast heart rate, shaky hands, wobbly legs when you are in certain situations that make you nervous or anxious
Now for the technical stuff…
ThinkNinja is aimed at young people aged 11 to 187 years of age. ThinkNinja was created by child mental health psychologist experts with help from young people to make sure the content, skills and how we talk about mental health and mood are just right and fun to use.
ThinkNinja is built on proven therapy-based techniques, called cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and motivational interviewing, to help deal with anxiety and low mood. ThinkNinja also contains other really useful techniques such as mindfulness meditation and relaxation techniques to help with mental health, emotional wellbeing and resilience.
The Wise Ninja is using artificial intelligence, which means your personal guide is using special computer programming that has the ability to think and learn to stay wise! Your personal guide continues to get wiser and wiser to help you on your journey to enjoying life’s great moments!
How to use ThinkNinja…
At the moment, you can only access ThinkNinja as part of special programmes through schools and the NHS.
This update brings you lots of great new content on the coronavirus to help you understand fears relating to the virus, consider isolation struggles and learn mental strength and coping techniques to use during the crisis.
