Happy Timehopping!
I love the TimeHop app, I’ve had it for many years, I log on every day, I love looking back at the things I’ve done, and happy memories. So many pics of my kids growing up,and comparing them to how they look now, I’ll often screen shot old pics ( often photos I’d forgotten I’d taken) and forward them on to my loved ones, and they love seeing the pics and reminiscing. There’s a few memories and people that bring back bad memories too! But is normally a good reminder that I still have that photo in my albums on my phone, so as time hop obviously gives the day and year of your pics, I’m then able to find such photos easily, and delete them !! So yea, it’s a great app and I’m so grateful for to TimeHop for somehow sending me daily updates of my memories from my photos in my phone album and Facebook !
Retro video mistakes

I love this. It’s a timely reminder of my past and I’ve been using the app for a few years now. It’s great you can now remove things that aren’t relevant. I love the retro video too even if it is very much based on America - I’m in the uk. However there have been many silly mistakes on it recently for example - today it said the Michael Jackson’s BAD was 54 years ago- no it wasn’t, it was in the 1980’s. Also it said the other day someone in there 20’s (I forget who) was born 50 something years ago.

Apparently the app can’t count any higher than 2925 days unless I close it and restart the app. What’s with that nonsense? I have been using Timehop daily for 8 years but the app can’t seem to work it out any more which means I’ll lose my “streak”. Seems a bit daft to have an app that can remind you of things you said or did in your past but it can’t count properly. Also why should I pay for it?? So many once great apps are now selling out and wanting us to pay a small fortune for ad free versions and this one is no better! £40 for an annual ad free version but oh, you can pick your icon style from 3 different ones along with blocking ads. Get stuffed!I do love the fact that I can see photos/memories from years gone by at the swipe of my finger though. It’s even more apropos since my husband passed away and I don’t have to sit scrolling through hundreds of facebook posts to see memories of him.
Developer Response
Hello, thanks for reaching out. To clarify, the new subscription is completely optional and unlocks extra features for Timehop users. The core Timehop experience remains completely free. That said, we’ve passed your note along to our Product team. We also have an update rolling out after the holidays that should address the streak display issue you’re seeing. This is primarily a visual issue, and your actual streak will not be affected. If you continue to run into trouble or have questions, please reach out to help@timehop.com.
GDPR
SealyMac
I have used Timehop for years now and have enjoyed the app even through some pretty questionable updates, however, the latest version is shocking. With the new GDPR regulations coming into force I am now no longer able to use the app unless I agree to terms and conditions that I find abhorrent: 1: I allow Timehop to use my email to send me marketing messages and announcements. 2: I allow Timehop to share my anonymised information with ad partners. Now I realise I may be wrong in my interpretation of GDPR but I was under the impression that the new rules were to allow customers/users to opt out of email marketing if they wish and provide more visibility regarding where and how their data is used. This is seemingly not the case as it is impossible to access the app without agreeing to both conditions, neither of which I agree to. These two factors do not and should not affect the running of this app and are therefore unnecessary. In fact, having checked the guidelines for GDPR on the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) ie the governing body of the new regulations, this requirement is in violation of the following articles: ‘consent requires a positive opt in’ followed by ‘avoid making consent to processing a precondition of a service’. In other words, refusing to consent to my data being used for advertising purposes and spam emails should NOT prevent me from being able to access the service that the app provides. Bye bye Timehop.
Pay no attention to that new feature behind the curtain!
