I just moved into a new apartment and had a lot of empty cardboard boxes and IKEA flatpack packaging that I needed to get rid of. The local borough council wouldn’t take any of it away and had left it outside my house. When I got home late at 11pm, I took a photo, found the app, and within three minutes had arranged for someone to come and pick it up the next morning at 6am. The guy came around and picked it all up whilst I was fast asleep - such a fantastic idea, flawlessly executed. I’ll definitely be telling my friends about it!
Problems with reviews and reliability
In my experience, Two out of three helpers were unreliable. First one didn’t show up, the second messaged me to say he won’t make it but didn’t cancel the job. The third one was very well I should say.
I think there are a few flaws in the app: first, the reviews can be given only to those who completed the job, which induces a selection bias. Failure to show up or cancelling last minute cannot be reflected by the user review. Second, even when the helper connects to say they won’t show up (or try to force your hand to reschedule the job) as an advertiser you cannot cancel the job to seek for someone else. You need to wait until the job pick up time is reached and job not done. Now, it’s true that you can reach the help centre and they can cancel the job for you, but there’s no guarantee for a quick turnaround (I believe the expectation is 24hr).Also, why shouldn’t I have the flexibility to move on to find someone else, when I know for a fact the job won’t be delivered. Finally, in my case the estimated/recommended job cost was about 15% higher than the market rate. Though I’m not too bothered by that, something to keep in mind if you would like to advertise.
On the upside, help centre is fast -and indeed helpful. There are many helpers on the app which gives quick response time.

Please try to update the app now, many of the things you mentioned have just been implemented by a project we have been working on for months! :)
(Able to rate users at all times, able to change rating afterwards, able to give feedback when rating, better statistic overview, able to report users etc)

Current payment scheme is too lengthy
As a private contractor on the app, I believe the current payment scheme is too lengthy. Once a job is completed and verified by the customer, payment should be released immediately to the contractor. In the real world, once the customer and contractor agree that the job is done, payment is exchanged right away.
This delay in payment does not support contractors effectively. It hinders their ability to commit to new jobs or take on additional work, as they are waiting for payments that have been withheld for too long. By streamlining the payment process, the app could enhance contractor satisfaction and engagement, leading to more efficient service delivery.
Addressing this payment issue will not only benefit contractors but also improve customer experiences. With quicker payments, more contractors will be eager to take on tasks, resulting in faster job completions and happier customers. In turn, this will elevate the overall value of the app and strengthen the contractor community that drives its success.

It is rather complicated and logical, while we most likely could improve somewhere.
The majority of the payments will reach a helpers bank account within 2-3 days, pretty quick but not instantly. Why 2-3 days? That is the time it takes for the money to be transfered to your Tiptapp account, and then your bank account. Each taking 1-2 days.
Why does it take longer sometimes?
- The ad needs to be completed
- The ad needs to be recycling and the documentation approved
- The ad needs to be confirmed by the advertiser
Most of the above happens within the same day, so that the payment can begin to transfer to your account. If not, then it usually means that the ad is not completed so the money should not be transfered. Any delay on the above points will create a delay. Please also note that banks do not pay out the money on weekends or holidays, which may delay it further.
Compared to real work, payments or salary are often done within 10-60 days.
Tiptapp is pretty quick compared to that.
Compared to cash payment or direct transfers, we are for sure 1-2 days behind as you do not get the money instantly. The setup we need do not support these kind of payments today, but we are always looking and are open for new solutions. We can see a future with quicker payments, based on the ad being fully completed.
