Ratings and Reviews
At last, a to do helper that really works
I like lists but find they always grow out of control within a few dayes and then they get negelected. Todoist is magic and the first task manager I enjoy using each time. i've had it for quite some time now and it passes the test of time as I am still actively using it.
The todoist methodology is simple enough to allow me to dive in and out quickly. It is also sophisticated enough to do exactly what I want of it. A key point is how easy it is to reschedule things, so i don't end up with tasks that are weeks overdue. Grouping tasks for specific activities is also very handy. All-in-all I find that todoist helps my every day life. I have recommended it to all my friends.
Nice, but...
I paid for a subscription to utilise the fullness of this app, but it just doesn't cut it for me and my workflow. Love the interface. Love having projects in outline form. Love the fonts and love the Karma thing.
However, I do not love the glitchy way new todos are created. Oftentimes, if wanting to create a complicated repeat pattern, it takes many times to get it right. And much of the time it doesn't get it right, which means you have to manually enter the information in a system that is a bit onerous to navigate. Repeating todos cannot have subtasks if you want those subtasks to repeat as well [unles you go through the pain of putting a due date and time for each subtask]. I like that Things allows for subtasks [list items] which will repeat along with the parent task. I also prefer the way Things has you create due dates. Anyway. I deleted this app and will stick with Things.
Thank you.
Various apps and systems for organisation have never seemed to work with me. They always felt disjointed. I’m what some might call very "right-brained”, definitely non-linear and quite chaotic, fun blessing/curse. I have a lot of convoluted, interrelated creative projects going on at once, along with an accumulation of everyday jobs to do; Todoist seems to be an ideal, clean compensatory system for that. It doesn’t impose itself - that for me is the key. It’s very simple, with a sense that things can be easily seen as a whole - along with a subtly rewarding momentum-building element. This may sound like an exaggeration, but I had thought I was fundamentally broken and beyond help :) Thanks so much, it’s changed my life.
