I love Tot, but there's one thing missing

Tot is ideal for quick bits of reference text that you need in an instant. The one thing that would make this a 5* app for me is support for Hook.

Good app but not ver at home on my mac

The idea is great, a little text deposit with a limited number of tabs. It helps somewhat to keep text organised but there are a number of things that make the app feel out of place.

Font selection is pretty awkward in comparison with other mac apps. Rather than use the default ⌘T to open the font selector you have to right click or use a menu option and open a very limited formatting menu. If the leading or tracking needs adjustment for any reason then you're out of luck.

There is bizarrely the option to have a narrow or wide column of text but no way to specify an exact size. I can't imagine anyone wants to have text span the entire width of the screen which is default if the window fills the screen. The coumns also are dead areas, scrollbars are along the edge of the text which might well be well into the window, this just looks weird. If you try to right click the empty space, as you mayu be tempted to open the format menu without selecting text, nothing happens. Why can't the text be confined without creating this separate window within the main window?

Adjusting colourschemes is also really hard, it is amazing how much customisation there is, but you can't just set a single colour for things like background and text across the app (unless it is black) and you lose any changes if you change the dot colour (which isn't immediatley obvious and feels very frustrating)

Excellent and actively developed

I have used the Mac and iOS apps since they were first released. The app is simple, extremely effective and really useful. I have to confess I use it primarily (though not exclusively) for food shopping lists and it's very easy to add items with whatever device is to hand and then shop with the list on the phone in the supermarket. One great advantage is the almost instantaneous synchronisation between devices. (Effectively it can be a very fast way to synchronise text and links between your devices.)

All in all, a much appreciated and much used app.
