TravelEssex is a journey planner for Essex residents in Basildon, Braintree, Brentwood, Castle Point,
Chelmsford, Colchester, Epping Forest, Harlow, Maldon, Rochford, Tendring and Uttlesford.
If you live in parts of Essex between Chelmsford, Braintree, Little Dunmow, and Leaden Roding, you
could also book journeys, track the vehicle, and pay for tickets for DigiGo within the app! DigiGo is a
new mode of public transport that works on-demand, rather than having fixed bus routes of
timetables. This puts you in control of your journey. To read about DigiGo’s features and operational
areas, please visit www.digigo.uk
On the TravelEssex app, you can view every stop on bus and train routes, visualised clearly on our
maps. You can also track your journey in real time via GPS.
Users can sync their calendars to the app, too. So, your journey to your next appointment, meetup,
or meeting is planned in just a few clicks.
Example journeys:
Wivenhoe to Colchester Town centre - Get the 62 bus or 61 bus, or the train via the Greater Anglia
Service.
Braintree bus Interchange to Writtle University College – Get the 70 > 45 buses or an on-demand
electric minibus by DigiGo.

This app has helped me a lot when getting the bus for the first time ever, and made me feel a lot more confident and relaxed on the bus, but sometimes ( this has happened 3-4 times in the past few weeks) it tells me that my bus was cancelled when it came 10 mins late. This really worried me because I thought I would not be able to get to school. So even though it is a really useful and helpful source I would not always trust it fully just in case. 😄
Inconsistent Service
zbekir
The Service by Digigo, unfortunately can be very hit and miss depending on the driver. For example, there are times when I’ve booked a train to collect from the train station where the train is running slightly late often by only a few minutes. The driver has contacted my mobile number and has waited for the train to come in. It seems fairly logical if somebody’s booking the service from the train station they are most likely on the train! I don’t expect them to hang around if the train is delayed for hours, but a grace period of five minutes, I don’t think this is unreasonable. Drivers have often said this is a policy they apply. Sadly, I have experienced a situation where I have booked a collection for 21:00 and they have left after only 3 minutes waiting. The train was pulling in as they left. In my situation that resulted in me having to get a taxi at a far greater expense, my biggest concern however would be for young or vulnerable people who may be relying on this service to get home and without showing discretion of granting a five minutes grace period this could leave some in a precarious position. Frustratingly, there is no means of contacting the Service after 17:00 to let the driver know, it would be very useful if there could be a chat Service added to the app to allow the passenger to communicate with the driver.
Brilliant service
?!…xx
An amazing service which gives residents living in a village reliable transport when you need it. Very pleasant drivers always willing to help & drop off wherever I requested.Only issue is that i received a text message re a booked ride but the app is not responding both for my ride today & my pre arranged ride tomorrow. Deleted my app but this didn’t sort out the issue. Eventually the bus arrived but the driver had spoken to control he hadn’t received any instructions (he knew I was coming back as I told him when I’d been dropped off about 10mins before)There is no way of contacting the digibus people to try & sort out the issue. Completely understand as you wouldn’t contact anyone if there was as an issue with the timetable bus not turning up.
Unreliable
Bribe1008
Once booked it can’t be amended, if for instance a person needs to be added. The booking has to be cancelled then reordered, risking losing the slot. The bus generally picks us up from where ordered (a weekly request since the service started)but occasionally changes the pick up to a stop hundreds of yards away across a busy road, this can cause a real problem as a couple of my friends have mobility issues. Some experienced drivers use their common sense and call me, others stick rigidly to what the computer tells them. Also the bus is increasingly arriving up to half an hour late, which if I have a meeting renders it useless. In the main it is a great service and most of the drivers five star, it just needs tweaking, maybe someone in a control room using common sense. Is there anybody answering the helpline?
