Mostly good, some weird UX
App is mostly as good as you’d expect but there are some strange UX hiccups that bother me.
When resuming the app any stream is in a paused state meaning you have to hit play to start watching. Take a few seconds to do so and you’re no longer watching live content. There is no way that I can see of returning to live content. After watching for a few minutes the app will correct itself and move you to the live edge without any prompt. Why not just do that when I hit play or even when I wake the app?
Why can’t you just pause a stream like on the web? If I want to stop a stream I have to close it which requires two gestures.
Why does it require two gestures to close a stream anyway? Is having a persistent video window such a priority that you have to frustrate such a simple task?
These feel like business decisions more than UX decisions so can’t see them changing. Hope you sort it out though, they’re easy wins!
Been having issues last few days on iPad app where intermittently emotes are posting as the text instead of the image even for standard emotes like DansGame or NotLikeThis and even sometimes it’s posting the text but mixed up like it’ll post ‘game dans’ or ‘otliket is’ for the 2 previously mentioned. It’s really strange and doesn’t seem to have any logic for example some emotes from subbing to a streamer work in their stream but some post the text or jumbled text as it does with the standard emotes.
Also, I’m still getting the issue where the video is zoomed in when I open a stream and I have to play about with it by minimising and maximising it leading to it crashing sometimes. Been happening for the best part of the last year.
I doubt this’ll ever get read though as twitch staff seem so busy with totally destroying their brand atm with their ridiculous decisions. I’m guessing with Mixer sniping ninja from them twitch need to up their game massively. Yeah they are making money hand over fist atm but their brand is suffering it’s going downhill and theirs users know it. Expect many more to jump ship to mixer if a) Twitch doesn’t sort their $hit out and b) Ninja’s move to mixer goes well. Might be good night for twitch if they fail a) and b) goes well.
Thank you devs for actually reading feedback and bringing back the zoom. I can see text again now on mobile :-)
Please bring back the zoom function. I can't see small text!!! Poker streams I'm guessing how much they have as I can't zoom on balances!!! Mobile twitch is currently useless with this function missing.
Forced now to sign up and log in. Also assigns you to a load of random streamers and channels. Search doesn't work correctly and the interface is clunky and difficult to navigate. Don't get me started on the repeating ads. Okay I've seen it. Don't need to see it again another 50 times. Previous version was so much better. Backwards steps taken :-(
New Addition - Forced ads in the middle of streams so you miss parts of the live stream. Well done which ever genius thought that would be a great idea. Just use browser instead of app now.
Further info : If I have to see that Ghost in the Shell advert 1 more time I'm gonna combust!! As this advert is forced like every 5 minutes, I am deliberately now going to avoid watching this movie in protest.
