Out of all the games which are in a similar range to this one, Two Dots is by far my favourite. The graphics are beautiful and aesthetically pleasing, while the soundtrack is very relaxing. When you complete a difficult level, the satisfaction after it is great. However, once you play a game, to then cancel it after (maybe because you made a bad move or need to leave) you have to lose a life to do that. You are given five lives, which I suppose regenerate quickly but are also lost quite quickly if it is a challenging level. Multiple times I’ve been frustrated with the game, but I wouldn’t blame it on the actual app itself; just my short temper~ With all that being said, the graphics, the different worlds/landscapes you can pass through, the music and more outweigh the negatives. It’s also inclusive to everyone: with modes such as ‘Colour blind’ since the games themselves are based on distinguishing colours. All in all, this is a great game, however I wouldn’t recommend playing it 24/7 since you will end up getting in a mood because of the lack of lives. Somehow, it manages to frustrate you yet still be a relaxing game? I really don’t get how it does that. Hope this helped! ^^
Loss of playing streak
Pink-Tilly
I actually really enjoy playing Two Dots but I have a reoccurring issue that is frustrating and disappointing. Part of the game play is that you receive a daily gift for playing with multiple gifts on certain days. Several times I have had a message stating I failed to play the day before and am at risk of loosing my playing streak despite having played and received the gift. To save the streak you need to pay with gold which is an in app purchase.I have contacted the developers several times and each time they have restored my streak and some of the gold I used to save the streak but it keeps happening. Whenever I contact them they say I need a stable internet connection to play and receive the daily gifts. Given I had played the previous day AND received the gift, my connection was clearly strong and stable. I don’t have issues with other apps or websites which suggests this is a minor bug in the game. I have had a message today telling me I need to pay with gold to restore my playing streak to day 240 despite being at almost day 300 and playing yesterday. I will contact them again but it happens so frequently (last time was end of July) that a part of me wonders if it is a stealth way of getting people to pay!
Addictive, but ridiculously expensive
Groendraak
This is just as addictive as the original Dots and has lots of nice new features, but you have to pay for everything. The developers have crossed over the line between not earning enough for their work (because the previous game could be played for free forever) and charging too much for things that should be given to players as rewards. For example you can earn coins, but you’re told that if you need to buy a gold mine to store them, otherwise they disappear. I bought a gold mine for £1.99, thinking it’ll catch any future coins I earn, but no, you’re just buying coins, so the coins you earn don’t go into the mine. They just bounce off the top and you have to buy another mine for more coins. What’s the point of it? Just admit there’s no way of getting coins for free. There are lots of levels that you can only complete if you have coins, so I’ve reached the limit of how far I can play. There are plenty of nice areas to play, but after discovering my money was wasted I’m not going to bother paying more to advance further.
The side games are better fun than the main game
Jobe77
The main games are similar to the ‘candy’ type games, however in two dots they are blatantly and obviously made too difficult to complete on their own, forcing you to spend real money on various power ups and boosters. With the ‘candy’ range of games at least allow you make a fair progress into the game before finding yourself wanting to use a booster. In two dots you’ll probably get to lvl 20 after about 10 mins and then struggle. I would have rated this 1 star if it wasn’t for the side games, where you have to hunt for hidden items in various scenarios, a bit like ‘where’s Wally’. But even then the devs kill the joy by only allowing you to complete two rounds of these games before you need to spend real money (aka in game currency) to progress to the final levels. This could have been a real alternative to the ‘candy’ range of games except that the devs choose to extort money from you at every opportunity. They will probably respond to this review by saying that buying in game currency is an option, but the reality is that unless you like doing the same levels over and over again and getting nowhere fast, you’re better off avoiding this game.
