TypeIt4Me is the original text expander for Mac. Text expansion is on-the-fly substitution of short typed abbreviations with longer ‘snippets’ of content that they represent. Snippets can be lengthy words, phrases, boilerplate texts, date stamps or even pictures. Type a shorthand abbreviation of your choosing pretty much anywhere and it will ‘expand’ as if by magic. TypeIt4Me will instantly replace it with a corresponding snippet that you’ve defined, so you don’t have to type the whole thing out manually. “Type It For Me” – get it?
Once installed and launched, TypeIt4Me runs quietly in the background to help you type with increased speed and accuracy. It can greatly accelerate your typing because it reduces the number of times your fingers need to hit the keyboard. It can also significantly cut down the number of mistakes you make, because you won’t have to type out as many full words. Moreover, you can set it up to look out for and correct words that you commonly mistype. The most used software on my Mac
I have been using TypeIt4Me for around 20 years. It is part of my life. Simple but efficient. And a friendly, personal service, though seldome needed. Thank you Ricardo Ettore!
Love the concept but way too buggy
There are a lot of text expander apps out there. I think I like TypeIt4Me 7’s implementation best, especially with the pop-up window that can be used to fill in specific pre-defined slots in your expanded text. Works well enough.
But there are multiple bugs. Sometimes rules don’t appear when you first type them in. Sometimes they don’t get triggered and then I return to the app to see that the rule has disappeared. I’ve had type in one of my rules 4 times before it finally ‘settled’ and worked consistently.
The rules often insert an ‘enter’ keypress at the end which is infuriating. Seems to happen when there are pre-defined slots.
I’ll update my review when these issues get ironed out. I think the app needed more time to go through bug fixes before being released, but I trust that the issues will be fixed over the next couple of updates.

Thank you for the fair and constructive feedback. You are absolutely right, if we had delayed the release a bit longer we could have fixed more bugs. Perhaps we should have done that.
We had reached a point where our pre-release volunteer beta testers were mostly encountering and reporting the same known, minor issues.
There will always be a range of scenarios that can't be anticipated or simulated in a test environment. Ultimately, to make progress, stress test an app and find new bugs to fix it's sometimes necessary to open things up to a much larger group and see how well it survives contact with the real world.
With that in mind, we took the decision to put the app out there and do our best to deal with the weird and wonderful new glitches people run into.
We're doing all we can to fix problems reported to us as quickly as possible. There is already a 7.0.1 bug fix update going through Apple's review process. If you haven't already, you are welcome to contact us directly so we can help troubleshoot with you and figure out what's causing these particular issues you've encountered. Some of the behaviour you describe is new to us and we'd love the opportunity to get to the bottom of what's happening on your Mac.
