This is Uridium if it had been created today

All of us gamers who were teenagers in the mid 80's remember Andrew Braybrooks Uridium for both how hard it was, as well as technically stunning. The look of the game, with it's simulated metal had only been seen on one previous game, again another Braybrook game called Paradroid.

I wanted to play Uridium again but didn't want to go the emulator route because sometimes, when you do that, the game is never quite as great as your younger self remembered. Especially when the expectations on modern games are so much higher than something that ran in 54k of data on a 6510 chip. I wanted to play the game as it would look had it been developed today, but still an indie game, rather than another one of these AAA expensive franchise wrecks.

I found Uridium X and it's just perfect. Modernised graphics, the same bullet-hard intensity, the same gameplay tricks you can pull to get out of dodgy situations (Itry mine rolling for the uninitiated), and it still has the fun little mini-game between levels to break up the intensity.

I can't recommend it enough. It's a great game and I can't believe the developer has just let us all play it for free. No micro transactions, or stupid advert spamming. Just pure fun like it was back then when games were proper games.
