What can you do with the VanMoof app?
No matter where you are in the app, it will assist you with your smoothest ride yet:
Home
* No keys are needed, your bike smartly recognizes you. Unlock your bike with just a tap or create a personal unlock code to easily unlock your bike without your phone.
* Check how much battery your bike has (and Powerbank if you have one).
* View your current speed, distance, and ride duration on your in-app live dashboard.
* Adjust your bike settings instantly on the home screen. You can change your motor assistance, gears, lights, bell sound, and other bike sounds.
Rides
* Look back at every trip with a detailed ride overview.
* You can view every journey, including the time, distance, maximum and average speed, if you stopped, and how much battery it cost.
* See how you compare to other VanMoof riders in your city and across the World.
Garage
* Find all of your bike information, change your bike settings, and view your MyVanmoof profile.
* Get help with your bike by contacting support or reading the help articles.
* Share your bike with your friends and family.
* Plan a repair appointment at your closest store.
* Mark your bike as missing and send in the Bike Hunters.
* If your bike has Apple Find My, you can see the current status.

Version 24.4.1
Sometimes you just need to clean up your garage, as it gets full with old stuff. We didn’t only do a clean-up, we also modernised everything! All of your bike settings are now faster to reach, easier to find and the whole package is good on the eyes too. All 7 generations of VanMoof bikes are still supported, because we love to see you riding around on early smart bikes.
In this small update we turned off bike sharing for older bike models, as we accidentally enabled it. There’s also a small bug fix for bike registration.
Ratings and Reviews
Nice app design, some oddities
The look and feel of this app is great, but it would be so much better with some tweaks.
If you are unfortunate enough to have to be in the EU region, the default shifting moments make it go up to gears that are too high for the associated speeds especially with gear 4. Worse still, you can’t adjust them to speeds that are high enough in the custom screens. For example, I would like gear 4 to only kick in above 21mph.
Tapping the Watch complication wakes the bike up. I wish there were an option to stop it doing that.
Disappointed
I’ve had my Vanmoof bike for a week now, and I’m really surprised how poor the supporting app is. It crashes my iPhone regularly, to the extent of needing a full phone restart. The first time it happened, I didn’t actually know how to restart my phone (no other app has ever crashed it!) — and I was left unable to change the settings for a hilly ride home, or even turn on the bike lights.
The app itself has some annoying quirks. The feature I use most is the ability to change the motor strength while riding. For some reason this defaults to OFF, resets to OFF every single time I unlock the bike, and is hidden 3 levels deep in the menu system. On the bike itself, changing the motor strength is a very slow process. I have no idea why any of that is the case.
I’m also disappointed by the lack of customisation options. Despite all its features, the bike has only 2 buttons. One of them is reserved for the bell. Why?! I barely ever use it. I’d much rather be able to change gears manually, or change the assistance level, or switch to different gear ratios. Why can’t I customise what I want the buttons to do?
Van moof app review
This is a really slick app that allows easy control of the digital features of the bike. Nice bit of humour in the app copy too - makes it more human!
I feel it could really do with a few extra features eg telling you distance of a particular journey and ability to time it, also a journey planner ( it could be as simple as joining up to google maps)
