Ratings and Reviews
On the surface it seems like a good product. Unfortunately it appears that the number if book is very limited. I have an eyesight problem that makes it difficult to read for any period of time.
Also I cannot set this text to a larger font.
Dyslexic breakthrough: Making the unreachable reachable.
I am a 37 year old adult with mild dyslexia. The world of books always seemed like trying to climb a mountain whilst walking backwards with your eyes closed. Books can be bewildering if you find reading physically tiring and comprehension difficult. I love reading but I sometimes find it hard to remember and analyse each chapter in detail and in order. This can give teachers the impression that you are simply not trying or are being lazy. It is universally documented that many dyslexics have average to high IQ. This continual frustration can lead to poor self esteem, self worth and low academic expectations.
Devices such as the Kindle and now this App on the ipad are truly the greatest gift to a dyslexic person. Although I can read fluently and clearly, listening to clear and precise passive speech whilst reading (multi sensory) really allows me to really comprehend and even enjoy books on a level that I didn't know was possible.
I'd like to predict that devices such as this app will allow others and especially children with reading difficulties to enter and be inspired by the magical world of books. Hopefully I will be enjoying this until I have read everything - well almost everything!
At last, I am free to climb any mountain I choose, I can take giant strides and see new horizons.

This is a great app - for US readers, and many other foreign readers too. But for British readers, we have to listen to US speakers. Now, there's nothing wrong with an American accent. Unless, say, you're reading Charles Dickens in that accent. That's like drinking vintage French wine in a Starbucks paper cup.
If you are American and have trouble with this, just imagine Tom Sawyer being read by Hugh Grant - "Er, excuse me, terribly sorry, but consound it Tom Sawyer, you're just old pie, longside o' what I am. Lordy, lordy, lordy, old boy. Frightfully sorry." See what I mean?
I have asked the developers to add a British voice (Acapela do some great ones - see Speakpad or Speak It). This could be added as an in app purchase, like they do. vBookz said they would consider it. Sadly, it's still not there. Surely there is a bigger market for this than some of the other languages that have been added in this last update.
While I continue to wait, the rating will stay low, I'm afraid. Terribly sorry and all that.
