Description

ViewRanger is now Outdooractive.

In order to focus all our effort on our Outdooractive app and website, we currently expect to switch off access to the ViewRanger app at the end of February 2022.  We recommend you download and use the Outdooractive app instead of ViewRanger.

If you are already using ViewRanger, we offer you an easy way to move to the Outdooractive app - where you can continue to access your maps, tracks, routes, POIs, and other ViewRanger app data.

Search for "Outdooractive" and download the app for free.

Your Maps

If you made one-off payments to access maps within ViewRanger, then we are offering free access to a set of maps via the Outdooractive app instead. The maps we are offering depend on the region of the maps you made one-off payments for in ViewRanger. The maps will be from the same map data provider or, where necessary, from an alternative map data provider depending on the map region.

If you have a current ViewRanger subscription, then you have an Outdooractive Pro subscription that will expire at the same time as your ViewRanger subscription.  You will then need to renew your subscription via the Outdooractive app.  It is no longer possible to purchase or renew a ViewRanger subscription.

Other Data

By connecting your ViewRanger account to Outdooractive, routes you have plotted, routes you have downloaded, activity tracks you have recorded, a record of the challenges you participated in, and points-of-interest you have marked, will continue to be available within your Outdooractive account.

APPLE HEALTH provides detailed information about your activity, including the number of steps you’ve walked and your heart rate (when using Apple Watch™ or Bluetooth 4.0 enabled devices). Tracks recorded from activities in ViewRanger can be saved to Apple Health as workouts.

Great app!

This app is fantastic! It just keeps getting better! I’ve been using it since my ip3gs. Im currently using an ip8 + iwatch S3 and they both communicate reliably especially when following a route via this app. As you can imagine, it mirrors a mini map at the zoom level thats on your phone. You can send/download Routes to follow on the watch thats planned on your phone. It buzzes/beeps on your wrist at a waypoint or wandering off route. You can also start/stop recording tracks from the watch too which makes things a bit more convenient.
Overall, i think the ViewRanger app is a great companion for walking and hiking. I have ViewRanger on all my devices including my iPad which is what i plot my routes on. The bigger screen makes it easier. Finish, synchronise to your phone, go walking! Its easy to plot and follow routes. Its like having a little pocket assistant.
Its worth the money if you like exploring.

Goodbye

I have been a customer of ViewRanger for many years and have found that it fitted perfectly with my walking requirements. When I had any problems your support was always there to help and advise me and use my technology to get the best from your product. I have always felt that the the developers fully understood and provided what their customers needed rather than what was possible. In many ways the uncomplicated and logical interface has made things comfortable and rewarding. My walk/hiking experience has been enhanced by having your product with me on my phone. The USP must have been the ability to down load the tiles of maps that I needed for my activity and build up my resource. In many ways ViewRanger has been responsible for my discovering new walks locally and while away.
With the notification of the closing down of ViewRanger I just wanted to say one final thank you.

What an upgrade!

Every time I wished the app would do X or Y it magically appears in the next update. I wanted it to be easier to switch between map upright / turn to my direction. Before you had the go into the settings each time, then they changed it to a simple button press on the location button. The latest update features a ‘snap to footpath/bridalway/trail’ feature which is unbelievably handy and I imagine been technically hard to implement, they even had the foresight to make this easily activated/deactivated as you’re plotting a route (which has also been made much easier but pressing and holding to add waypoints rather than having to click add each time). Basically the dev team should be congratulated on their brilliant focus on an excellent user experience. So often app developers lose sight of what’s needed to make apps good to use but these guys are obviously very focussed on the end user. Thank you.
