I always use virgin trains but the app needs fixing and I am to the point where I will be using another service! I am constantly being logged out and unable to log back in, always at the most inconvenient times when I am about the get through the ticket barriers, asked to show the ticket or about to make payment. There are times where tickets cannot be downloaded on the app and turns out they have been sent in the form of a PDF E-ticket via email and there is no notification to tell you this in the app. It’s also very annoying when you view ‘journey detail’ and you are limited to seeing only your “to and from” stations - on the Trainline app you can view the full journey of the train, where it set off and where it ends up, that way you know you are definitely on the right train if your destination is somewhere in the middle and not where the train terminates.
Should be great, but isn’t
Had this app for a while, and booked tickets a few times, when I went to retrieve tickets, they date had changed to a day earlier, first time this happened I thought I’d made a mistake, and had to pay another £80 ish, second and third time I knew I hadn’t, both times I phoned and sorted it that way, but both times I had to rebook, paying again and then money returned at a later date, I can’t remember how much but I still had to pay some sort of handling fee, not much, but not the point. It’s. A handy app, but doesn’t inspire confidence to use it

Card Details - Seat Reservations - Train Times
Since upgrading to a new phone the app no longer stores my card details, I must key in my card details every time, despite having selected the option to store them.
The app does not actually provide the request seat preferences, no even any seat reservation. Disappointing.
It is impossible to quickly look up train times for your ticket (for an anytime ticket). When you need to show your ticket and change screens, a search must be completed once again to find the journey details.

So it may be not storing your card details if you are not logged in, or your phone setting don't allow this on any app, so be sure to check your preferences.
Regarding seat preferences, this is all managed by a national database for all train companies, so we have little control here. I'd suggest to use our seat picker via desktop to get your preferred seat - we are developing a solution for this to be on mobile in due course.
