you know you should be paying for this

I started paying for the washpost because I was burning through the generous number of monthly free articles, but you know come for world-leading news, stay for the app. It basically always works, unlike a lot of news apps it can always remember the subscription, and generally can open a story from other social media. It's great for the actual newspaper pages (you can click through to get the app version if you want) and also comics. What's more to want in a newspaper? Oh, and you can also gift articles to other, that's super easy too over standard Apple sharing.

A UK perspective

I learned all about the WP from All The President’s Men. As such, it has an almost revered status. With the New York Times not far behind, I might add. I thoroughly enjoy the coverage you provide and I always learn something about the US system of government / constitution when I read your coverage. I get that you are not Trump fans ( neither am I) and I factor that in when I read your coverage. However there is one thing that neither the WP nor the NYT gives me : an explanation of why 70 million Americans vote for Trump. I have heard that unless you understand the Civil War, you don’t understand America. fair enough, I probably don’t understand your Civil War as well as I might. Is that at the heart of my problem ? Not all the 70 million are idiots ( much as not all of the 52% of UK voters who voted for Brexit are idiots, although I do wonder....j so why do so many vote for Trump? I’d love an in-depth article explaining, if not agreeing with, the mindset of the 70 million. In the meantime, keep up the great coverage. PS, it’s normality, not normalcy. :-)

Excellent balanced,perceptive journalism

I am never able to read through the wide variety of articles in The Post - the penalty of working full time. However, the balance and spread of topics and articles, aside from the election - provide a really perceptive and stimulating focus for thought and debate. The Post - like the NYT and Guardian and Indy - are genuinely balanced across politics, current affairs ( on a world stage), science, environment, the arts and living. I long for retirement and the time to do it justice. Whilst we all exist, write, teach and debate within our “bubble”, we must continue with such journalism to expand that bubble and pursue truth and foster tolerant and informed debate. Indispensable.
