Whisper - Share, Express, Meet 17+

I like whisper a lot, I’ve had it for a while and it’s great for meeting strangers and just having a simply chat but now every time I go in to the app, I get redirected into the App Store randomly and for no reason at all. It’s getting to the point where I’m only scrolling through whispers and I’m being redirected to the App Store. I wish they made a feature that would either give you the option to stop advertisements or fix the issue of being redirected to the App Store, there is no need for it unless someone is genuinely interested in the product being advertised but I, for example, am NOT interested in the advertisements, I AM interested in being able to actually use the app however. So please, do us a favour and fix the issue please.

This was my original review of the app 3 years ago when I downloaded it along with 5 stars. Now I find the app completely ridiculous. The constant pop ups and being taken to the App Store is ridiculous. On the app itself it’s full of perverts and pedophiles and disturbing things that whisper does nothing to stop, even after flagging the post nothing is done and the posts continue, especially racist posts.

The popular page has changed, it once was good and had actual people’s whispers on there but now the only whispers that make it to the popular page are all requotes of whispers that were previously up there the day before or of memes and jokes or LGBT stuff about transgenders and things, as a member of the LGBT community I’m sick of the LGBT stuff put on there and how it’s used to portray the LGBT community which is complete wrong. If you disagree with any of the things there and mention it your post is taken down and deleted, this is without using any strong language or methods, even just talking civilly. The app has changed and it’s pathetic and disgusting now filled with attention seekers and disgusting pervs. Don’t download it.

TL;DR: Don't download it, let the app die.

Ever since BuzzFeed acquired whisper there has been a steady flow of changes that generally lowered the quality of life on whisper. From preventing you from using the 'nearby' feature unless you want to be location tracked even when the app is off to adding a 'profile' option to display your gender and age thus spreading more bias, stigma, and discrimination across the app to flooding the app with adds of which the latest came in the form of whispers themselves. Each change has taken the app from bad to worse and, while it was somewhat tolerable, the last straw came when i was banned from chat which as far as i can tell from searching forums is permanent. I am convinced that i was only banned in an attempt to sanitise the app as i behaved perfectly civil and, while not the 'model user' buzzfeed clearly wants from their app, i was never disrespectful to people.

Frankly this app deserves to die off now, it's only appeal is to the delusional living-in-a-bubble sorts of people.
