No bells, no whistles, just a solid Scrabble-like

It’s Scrabble on a differently laid out board. Pay the money and then you get no ads. No pointless gimmicks. Just a reliable and calm experience. It’s great. My most played game app over the years. If I’m being very critical, though, it does have quite a bit of room for improvement. The dictionary is often out of date, not allowing new but valid words occasionally. It lacks a few simple conveniences like previously played moves and dictionary definitions. It isn’t integrated with Game Center for easily finding friends. There’s no “send reminder” function for nudging about missed turns. There’s no pass and play option. I would happily pay additional money for these features. And I would prefer to use the Scrabble layout (or to customise your own), but I have feeling the developer has its hands tied on offering that. Nevertheless, really very highly recommended.

Quality of game and its software

It’s good as well as a tad addictive. The only downside is where you are playing multiple games and one of your opponents requests you to accept or reject a new game invitation. Until you have chosen one of those 2 options the system will not allow you to continue an ongoing game Another thing is that the premium achieved for getting a bingo is small compared with putting a Q,J, Z or X on a triple letter score which scores for both the horizontal as well as for the vertical word. Probably the latter is too high. When one considers that by laying down all 7 letters opens up the board for one's opponent to take advantage of the quintuple letter score, the bingo is under-rewarded. However, I appreciate Wordfeud seeks to emulate Scrabble where this method of scoring applies . Another observation is that there is no premium added to a huge victory over an opponent compared with one which is marginal . A good scoring system should increase the rating if the victory is decisive . WebMoorCott

And the world can turn again…

This app is a revelation. I’m so pleased with it that I have already paid the £5.99 for no adverts as has my father who is my regular playing partner. I had been using another app whose sole objective was to draw you into an unnecessary world of coins and targets when all I’m interested in doing is playing a simple game at our own pace.

I do miss a couple of decent features such as playing with different coloured tiles to differentiate on the board and seeing the history of words and scores within a game but living without these is a small price to pay for an uninterrupted experience which does not drain my phone’s battery at excessive rates.

Well done and thank you to Bertheussen, really appreciate your work and wish we’d found your app sooner.
