Wreckfinder 2 4+

I had quite high hopes looking for wrecks with this app!
Price doesnt bother me if it’s was easy to use however I’ve found it very difficult to cross reference with my Nautical maps/gps
Info regarding wreck details are also very difficult to read for private boat fisherman
Thought it would save me loads of time doing my homework indoors but it would probably be quicker for me to drive to each individual wreck marked on my gps and find out for myself

Hi HB Boating, thank you for your review, Sean here the founder of wreckfinder, the wrecks are provided with latitude and longitude GPS coordinates which means easy entry into a plotter or other device. Also you can also view your location on the google map to see where you are in reference to the wreck. Shocking app. I bought this app before for about £6 and it was good. I went to download it again and the developer has taken my initial payment, but changed the app so I need to buy it all over again. So basically I paid for something, which was then taken away and offered instead something else which was massively more expensive. I’m sorry but if I sold someone a car - then went to their house and took it back without refund, then offered to then sell them the same car for around 5 times the price, you’d end up in prison.

You can download it for free but absolutely everything is locked behind a paywall so you get literally no information whatsoever unless you subscribe to the annual payment. Very unethical way to do business and makes this app seem like a total scam. Feel sorry for the people that bought the previous version then watched it get pulled a few days later with no refund.

I had the original version which for the price was brilliant.
I feel totally let down by the fact I’d bought a product, which was taken away without warning or agreement.
If I want to have back what I originally purchased, I now have to pay through the nose......

I really don’t understand how they can charge so much for the app, other than they want too....

I’ve read the responses to other similar comments.....
I get the fact the app needed a complete revamp to comply with certain policies, but surly there should have been a loyalty to the original subscribers.

Thank you for taking the time to respond.
I understand that the original app needed to be completely re-written, however:....

Your offer of several months trial still means I will have to subscribe there after, and that sadly does not change my views and how I feel cheated and let down.

After all, you wouldn’t purchase a television set, then after a few months expect someone to take it away and then offer to rent it back to you, would you.....

Thanks for your review and positive comments about the original app, also thank you for your honesty about how you feel about the new app and the pricing etc.

As previously mentioned to other similar reviews, there was no option other than to revamp the entire system and build it all out from scratch again. The old app could not be maintained or there was no way to know who were old users of the app as this information is guarded by apple and we didn't have a signup system at that time.

The good news is that moving forward we know exactly who are premium members and can look after them.
