Amazing but some improvements would make it better

I had been using Yolt for a few months and enjoyed it but changed to Cleo to see if it was any better. After using Cleo for about a month I realise Yolt was the one for me as there were more categories and budgets I could set for myself. The only thing I think Yolt is majorly lacking in and what I consider to be an important feature is the fact that you don’t get to set budgets to start from your paydays (something that Cleo actually does). With Yolt all budgets start from the first of the month, but for someone like me who gets paid in the middle of the month with bills coming out throughout the month it confuses things a little. Other nice little feature would be one-off payments for important things i.e. needing to buy a new phone or TV etc. or a way to justify your overspend for a specific budget in a month so it doesn’t look like you’re constantly bad at sticking to your budget. Other than these possible improvements, I love the app and I’m excited to see how it develops in the future!

Great App but some limitations

Having tried and compared Yolt and Emma finance (and now Money Dashboard Neo), I find they all have their own strengths. I prefer Yolts way of displaying data and information, it is easier and clearer especially around tags. However, there are a few fundamental shortfalls with Yolt: 1. Rules/Categories seem to be “forgetful” or dumb. E.g. I have a recurring electric bill, I categorise it as “Bills” as that is what I want to use. Each month I have to change it to “Bills” from “Utilities” since this is what Yolt wants to use. Takes some of the automation away from the App. 2. Limited Categories - I’ve managed to squeeze my categories into their model but it would be much better if you can create your own. 3. Not sure what the point of the Yolt card and accounts is. There’s no benefits or interest paid on them, the “cash back” is available already online via various cash back websites (and sometimes more generous). It just seems to be a feature for features sake. Needs a better incentive to consider using it. At the moment it just takes up space. 4. Need to be able to categorise or “assign” accounts differently. For example I use a current account for saving since it’s interest rate is much higher than any market saving account rates. Without this it makes the savings tile on the dashboard useless for me Overall, it’s a great App but a few things above you need to be aware of when using it as a serious user to manage your finances.

Fantastic App

I was fed up of going backwards and forwards with my bank statements and copying and pasting into a spreadsheet to try and make sense of my monthly finances. This App does everything I want and more. It really is a one stop organiser for your finances. See at a glance what your top expenditure was from month to month categorise all transactions into set ones or hashtag your own so you can drill down into spends in and out of your accounts. I must admit I was nervous about linking my bank account with it but it could not be safer. No transactions can be undertaken in the App - it simply pulls the data in from your bank and auto categorises most of the entries which are fully editable. Any it doesn’t pick up you can categorise yourself. See a regular figure of “left to spend” so you can manage your daily/weekly/monthly budgets. Talking of budgets you can also set many budgets in the app to further control how you spend. It’s just what I need and has the added peace of mind of the backing of ING Banking group and as such the app has Bank level security. Customer service is also excellent with a representative emailing you with solutions to any query’s within a few hours. Best of all this app is free. Great UI, functions and ease of use. Top marks for this app.
