Yubo : Make new friends 17+

For an app that allows you to meet new people, this one is fantastic! I have little to criticise this app for in terms of negative qualities - but that doesn’t necessarily mean there aren’t issues there. For example, the tag feature is a way of showing your interests in order to have a better chance of meeting more like-minded individuals. But other than that, it’s just a display option. I still have to swipe for hours to find someone remotely interesting. Maybe some development on the Yubo algorithm could be used? I’d definitely find this app more enjoyable if the algorithm showed me people that actually share the same tags as me.

Another small gripe I have is the Livestream naming system. I can name my live something completely mundane like “Night Vibes” and it gets removed? I have to keep typing it again and again or change the name completely to get my live to keep the name i’ve set for it. It’s not a major issue but it can be a little irritating.

Other than that! This app is fantastic! I have made lots of long-term friends on here local and long-distance and we’re all planning to go away this summer! The UI is friendly and I love the different categories for livestreams that Yubo has to offer! Please keep up the good work! <3

Why do I have to pay to see who added me and to message other users that’s the most basic feature that you would think would be offered free but no of course you download the app think it’s good, it’s free, then BAM! Hits you with a unexpected paywall. I ended up paying because I really wanted to talk to the people who added me super badly. I have not had a single bad experience with the people on this app and I was able to make lots of friends with similar interests who lived near me. This is a very good app specifically for teens and young adults but I think the people behind this app need to be aware than these people using the app are 13 minimum (it’s literally their target age) who are unable to work to pay themselves. Being 17 I can work and pay for the subscription but not great for those stuck having to ask their parents who may not be willing to pay for an app to talk to strangers and looking similar to Tinder. I understand paying for no ads or free boosts and turbos but not for the only reason people use this app, TO MESSAGE AND MEET OTHER PEOPLE OF A SIMILAR AGE. I honestly wish Yubucks currency could be used to pay for the subscription/basic functions instead of money that would be such an awesome feature implemented. Other than the pay issue, personally I have no other issues and will continue to use this app.

The concept of Yubo is very good, you can make new friends and you have the opportunity to choose who you request. You can message people on the app and you can watch live videos like on Instagram. However, there is a major problem which really sets Yubo back. This problem is that you have to pay or promote the app in order to see who’s added you. In all the other apps I’ve downloaded with the same concept you can see this for free and I believe that it’s a fundamental right for someone to have using the app for the app to be a good app. An additional problem is that for people who don’t have money to spend on this app, you can only get to see one person who’s added you if one of your friends on Snapchat opens the promotional link you send them. Who is going to open the link? Nobody will open the link. Most people you send the link to will skip it and move on, nobody’s going to open the link.
There are so many swiping apps out there and amongst all of them, one that doesn’t let you see who wants to be your friend for free just doesn’t do it for me.
