Maths can feel like fifty shades of beige. But SUM! Math with Cute Numbers turns it gloriously technicolour.
Here, numbers are personified as friendly, bright spheres and your job is to score points by smashing them together and cracking them open.
There’s more to it than that though. All this anarchy is in the name of learning how to add, subtract and divide, starting with easy-peasy arithmetic and subtraction: tap spheres to add them together, and split them open to subtract.
As you progress, you’ll be asked to make sequences, solve combinations, find pairs that make bigger numbers, and spot patterns – and all as the clock ticks down.
The formats vary – sometimes, you’ll face down flashcards, other times, spheres will roll around at the bottom of the screen. At the end of each round, you’ll get a score, and a few words of encouragement.
Adding to the enjoyment, numbers have personalities: some blink endearingly behind huge glasses, others are hopping mad. While it reads like a kids game – the clue’s in the “cute” moniker in the title – it’s compulsive tapping for anyone who wants to work on their numbers game.
You’ll soon find yourself thinking in sequences, and you’ll be far quicker off the mark when it comes to splitting the bill at a restaurant.
