Sure, you’ve been on a trip to the zoo before – but have you ever seen a gorilla with a gun, or a fox with a crossbow?
Zooba’s cast of slickly-animated animals are armed to the teeth and have lashings of personality. This is an arena battle game in which you move your hero with your left thumb and aim and fire with your right. Each character has unique abilities too, so every battle has all kinds of possibilities.
Take Fuzzy the penguin: he’s the only one who can slide across ice, giving him the edge on his own turf. Or Finn the shark, who has a deadly bite and can sniff out his opponents’ blood.
The zoo is one big battlefield, divided into four environments: savannah, forest, ice and the food court. Each firefight unfolds between 20 online players, and like plenty of other ‘battle royale’ games, the arena is always shrinking so the intensity is always rising. It also means each shootout keeps to a tight four minutes or so.
With plenty of characters to sink your teeth into and a plethora of combat styles, there’s long-term appeal to go alongside the quickfire shootouts in Zooba. Virtual trips to the zoo don’t get much more explosive.
