GAME OF THE DAY
Because sweet, sour, salty & bitter aren’t quite tasty enough.
Your kitchen, your rules
In the west, Umami is a recent discovery: it’s the fifth taste, the magic savoury flavour that makes some meals taste so wonderful. In Chef Umami, your job is to make those meals and serve them up.
You could call this game a first-person cooker: you see through the chef’s eyes as you raid the fridge for ingredients, add sides, chop or squeeze individual bits of food and then cook it all up in a pan or in the oven.
You can’t just approach it randomly, though. You need to find the right cookware for the meal you’re making and get the seasoning just-so, or your hungry customers will express their displeasure in very obvious ways. And in a nice touch, you can use the AR camera to place your virtual food in the real world so you can share a photo of it on your own table.
It’s a strange game, and we mean that in the nicest possible way: it’s a very calm, serene experience with a distinctive visual style.
And if you’re worried about this being a little too serene for kids, you might be surprised. If only they were that interested in our real kitchen.
