What’s your favourite film and why?

Letterboxd

The social app for film lovers

Anyone else spend hours trawling through all the streaming platforms looking for that must-watch film? Letterboxd takes the hassle out of deciding what to watch next with reviews and curated lists from film aficionados. You can also use the app to keep track of the movies you’ve already watched.

What we love: Finding fellow film buffs. Connect with friends’ accounts to see what they’ve been watching and read their reviews. Not keen on your mates’ movie choices? Scan the Reviews tab to find a member with equally eclectic tastes. And don’t forget to follow them for future recommendations.

Keep track of the films you’ve seen with Letterboxd.

Quick tip: Letterboxd is free to use but has nifty member benefits. With a Pro or Patron subscription, you can filter by the streaming platforms you’re currently subscribed to and receive notifications when films from your watchlist arrive on those services.

Meet the creators: Letterboxd started as a side-project for New Zealander devs (and huge movie fans) Matthew Buchanan and Karl von Randow in 2011. Thanks to the growing success of the app, they quit their day jobs and hired their first full-time employee in 2020.
