EA Sports is on a roll. Madden Mobile completely changed the game, FIFA is on the way (spoiler alert: it’s amazing), and - not to be outdone by its football brethren - NBA Live Mobile is about to tip off an absolutely vintage year. Strap in, because this is practically a new game.
Greatness from the ground up
It’s too easy to say “Everything is changing” in this year’s update, so we won’t. But practically everything is changing. For starters, NBA Live has a whole new hub. Think of it as your front page to the game, with areas for custom-built teams, live events, head-to-head play, season and leagues. Don’t be surprised when you jump in and find a few of those features locked until you’ve played a bit. With a mass of new content and systems, EA wants you to take it slowly and build your team before getting deeper into the action.

Back to the blacktop
If you’re anything like us, your favourite moments on the digital court came by way of NBA Jam and NBA Street. We miss those games like we miss 1996 Michael Jordan (and not just because of Space Jam). NBA Live is bringing that feeling back in its dedicated blacktop mode. As your second lineup of starting five, blacktop is where legends come to play. Unlock, evolve and level up these athletes just like your core NBA roster, but take competition to classic courts like Venice Beach and Brooklyn Park. You may not be able to pull off a cyclone slip-’n’-slide and top it with a dunk from the three-point line, but blacktop mode is a massive step toward achieving your hoop dreams.
You may not be able to pull off a cyclone slip-’n’-slide or dunk from the three-point line as in those old games, but you do get to play to 21 without any pesky shot clock, just like in real street ball.
