Its time to break out a classic parenting move. Pretend this app is for your little one, knowing full well that as soon as they’re in bed it’ll be you creating some animal-based beats.

LOOPIMAL, which transforms cartoon animals into musical instruments, is all about letting children explore and be creative in a fun, accessible way. But you’ll be the one throwing a tantrum and pleading for your turn.

When the kids do eventually get a go, you won't even need to stick your fingers in your ears while dutifully praising their musicality. The app provides a simple backing beat to follow and keeps all sounds in C-major for a more harmonic result.

There are plenty of noises to play with. Each of the nine animals come with five unique sounds. And, as we all know that hippos are all about beefy bass beats while spindly-legged birds focus on high, choral tunes, these creatures live up to their billing. Select the sounds you want, drop them onto the soundboard and the looping track will adjust to your creation.

There’s no right or wrong. No mistimed entries or awkward bum notes. You can focus on single sounds, pair up animals or create a four-way musical mashup, adding layers to your track.

Since each sound comes with its own animal animation, you’re as much as a choreographer as you are a music producer.

There’s something charming about watching an octopus play its legs like a high-strung bass, like Flea from Red Hot Chilli Peppers. And getting a woolly mammoth to breakdance is always going to raise a smile.
