Word of the Day, Flashcards
When it comes to learning a language, practice makes perfect. And Atlas – English Vocabulary makes practice easy: turning learning English part of your daily routine with smart word games and snappy tests.
Start by choosing your native language, be it Afrikaans or Corsican, Gujarati, Japanese or Pashto. Then select your level from Novice, Intermediate or Expert (you can change it later if required).
Then it’s time to play. You’ll start with flashcards which give you a word, its definition, several synonyms and an example sentence. Commit the word to memory through games, including multiple choice brain-twisters, fill-in-the-gap exercises, spelling practice and a round of match-the-synonym.
Each time you master a word, it’ll be banked into your own vocabulary library, which you can return to whenever you want, and play the games again to try and improve your score.
Atlas is all about the rule of five: words are presented in groups of five, all along a theme – learning by theme has been shown to help your brain to process new vocabulary better.
Mark your progress in quizzes, tests and module exams to level-up to unlock new categories, and consult your profile tab to see how many words you’ve learned, and how many quizzes, tests and module exams you’ve aced. The stripped-back interface means no distractions – just word play!
