APP
OF THE
DAY
what3words
Never get lost again
Some ideas are brilliant and what3words is one of them. The app has divided the world into 57 trillion squares and labelled each one with three words.
Because each square is just three metres wide, those three words locate not just a place but a very specific area of that place.
On a university campus, for example, wouldn’t it be great if your map showed the exact entrance you needed rather than the centre of the university? What3words does just that, making it particularly great for directions.
You’re not limited to places with addresses. Share the location ninth hole on a golf course or even your whearabouts on a mountain – without needing an internet connection.
What3words is also used by a huge number of emergency services, meaning that you can use your three word location when speaking to first responders, if you are in a remote place and get into difficulty.
So, the next time you’re going out for a walk, hike or just to meet friends in the middle of a park, make sure you have what3words and you’ll be able to tell people you’re at pepper.whoever.stiletto, rather than vague mentions of “past the ditch and next to the third tree on the right”.
