Welcome to the neighbourhood! Although there’s not a lot here... yet. As the new mayor in Cityscapes: Sim Builder, that’s where you come in!
Your goal in this thought-provoking sim is simple: craft a thriving metropolis, building by building.
But there’s more to a smart city than skyscrapers and shopping centres. To keep citizens happy you need to keep the environment happy. Cities can be pollution machines. How will yours be different?
Sustainable growth
Sustainability adds a cool wrinkle to the traditional city-building experience. Sure, you can erect a downtown hub packed with apartments and storefronts. But those buildings need power, so what should you choose? A coal power plant works quickly and cheaply, but cranks out a lot of pollution. Solar panels produce clean energy, but generate power at one-fifth the rate of coal.
There are other ways to make your city more sustainable. Pave bikeable roads and invest in public transportation to reduce traffic. Build around natural habitats to preserve wildlife and pollution-fighting trees. Spend on education to teach citizens how to produce less waste.
The sustainable path isn’t always easy. But finding that balance is what makes Cityscapes: Sim Builder a special kind of sim – it’s city-building with a conscience.
Your kind of town
As you increase your player level by working through the campaign, you’ll unlock cool new biomes to build cities in. From the dusty deserts of Dry Stop to tropical Crab Lagoon, there’s a location for every kind of mayor.
Better still, playing through the free monthly City Pass unlocks new parks, buildings and landmarks to give you even more creative variety. Want the Statue of Liberty slap bang in the middle of town? No policy against that!
Bolder builds
If you’re looking for a steeper challenge, hop into Trials, which put your city-planning skills to the test. In these speedy scenarios, buildings level up faster and are abandoned more quickly. Can you stay on top of everything? The people are counting on you!
