Fancy relaxing by a lake, or in the mountains? If time and travel budgets don’t allow, Portal can take you there in spirit.
Chill out with assistance from some of the world’s most beautiful places and nature’s most beautiful sounds.
We know what you’re thinking: are there whales? Of course there are – with footage taken in Tahiti and set to ethereal synthesisers. There are also the more natural sounds of Japan’s Lake Kawaguchi and the waves of Hawaiian and Thai beaches.
The app is particularly great when used with headphones, where the audio feels like it’s all around you. If you so wish you can mix the audio with the sound from other apps – so you can combine beach sounds with suitably sunny music or your holiday audiobooks.
Set alarms in the app and it will wake you gently with one of its portals. Try breathing exercises for relaxation or use the focus timer to keep you engaged in a particular task.
