Description
"Rebooting Memories" AR App displays black-and-white photos of Hiroshima before World War II and the ones colorized by Artificial Intelligence in the map & AR (augmented reality) view.
The “former Nakajima District” that has now become a Peace Park was once a downtown area inhabited by 4,400 people. Peaceful lives there were lost forever as a result of the atomic bomb. The photos included in this app were mainly taken in this district.
We have been promoting the “Rebooting Memories” project in Hiroshima. It is an activity that creates places of dialogue based on automatic colorized photos by AI. This increases the value of information by converting “stocked” records in society into “flowing” images, thus transmitting past memories to the future based on emerging communication.
Colorized photos of the past days remind the hibakusha (A-Bomb survivors) of many things in those days. When the photo is superimposed on the current Hiroshima landscape through the AR view, a window of time opens in front of our eyes and leads us to the past days.
With this app, we hope that the past, present and future that had been divided by the atomic bomb attack will be connected and the memory of war will be inherited to the future.
What’s New
