Best taxi app throughout the years for Athens
I’ve been using the app since 2015, and I’ve seen two rebrands. The Free Now version is my fav, the app is working well, lots of options, easy to interact with drivers, not too long waits during rush hours and days. Absolutely recommend it if you don’t have a car, as you’ll be guarantee safe with your driver, been using it 3-5 times a week without an issue. If they’d put car seats for babies and kids, even with extra charge and prebooking, would be freaking amazing!
Amount withheld from card
I understand the principle that the app wants to secure that I'll be able to pay the whole amount of my trip, however withholding the maximum amount it can be charged for this trip from my bank account, won't work. My trip was shorter so I was charged less, yet the bigger amount was withheld and I wasn't able to see my actual balance. One cannot keep track of checking whether the actual amount was charged or whether the money withheld were returned. Especially when a trip takes place during the weekend and you have to wait for the first bank day. I won't be using the app again, I do not claim it holds more than actually charged, I just find it problematic that for a Friday night trip which would cost 10 but actually costed 6, you'd lose the rest 4 until Monday.

Great step forward
I almost always use Free Now in Greece. It is immensely more convenient than waiting or calling a radio taxi. Congratulations. It is not yet as efficient as Uber in other countries but has the advantage that the drivers are not foreign and most know the way around in busy traffic. I hope that this continues and that there is not a total reliance on navigation systems which have their disadvantages.
