Description

LiDAR is supported now! Please read the FAQ at www.hege.sh/faq for scanning tips, how to download your 3D models, how to enable Screen Sharing, Infinite Scanning and more

Create 3D scans using the 3D camera (FaceID or LiDAR) of your iPhone 14, 14 Pro, 13, 13 Pro, 12, 12 Pro, 11, 11 Pro, XS, XR, X or iPad Pro! Export scans into STL, PLY, OBJ, GLB (glTF), share them and more. On older devices, you can use the ordinary camera mode or the Screen Sharing feature.

This app is *PAID* up-front. Why is it free-to-download then? To protect people with unsupported devices from buying it (more details at the bottom of this text).

Heges is divided into two modes:

= 3D Scanner (**PAID**, requires one-time In-App Purchase)
============================
- Available only for the iPhone X, XS, XS Max, XR, 11, 11 Pro, 12, 12 Pro, 13, 13 Pro, 14, 14 Pro and iPad Pro with TrueDepth camera and/or LiDAR sensor as an In-App Purchase (Why? Read more at the bottom.)

- Create 3D models by scanning everyday objects
using the selfie TrueDepth camera (FaceID) and/or the rear LiDAR sensor

- After scanning, export the models into PLY, OBJ (both with colors),
STL, GLB (both without colors) file formats

- Share exported models e.g. via built-in Wi-Fi server or
view them in the iOS Files app

- Use the physical volume buttons to toggle scanning session

- Double-tap anywhere in the live camera view to Share Screen with another iPhone/iPad,
so that you can better see what you're scanning

- View the models in AR

- You can scan in pitch-dark environment and use Heges as a night vision camera!

- Choose from the available scanning precisions — the higher
the precision, the shorter the scanner range

- To get the most accurate scans, you must use the selfie FaceID camera with 0.5MM Precision settings; do not use LiDAR if you need accurate scans

- The selfie FaceID camera is much more accurate than LiDAR (approx. one order of magnitude),
the models in the promo videos were scanned using the selfie FaceID camera of iPhone X

- Use the selfie FaceID camera for scanning fine details (up to 2 millimeters accuracy with FaceID and 0.5MM Precision settings)

- Use LiDAR for scanning large areas (e.g. houses, hallways, rooms, etc.), LiDAR is NOT suitable for scanning small objects with detail — use the selfie FaceID camera for this purpose

- Objects in scanner range are highlighted in the live view

- Switch to the passive Night Vision where there're no
explicit restrictions on the scanner range

Instructions for the 3D scanner:
- Move slowly when scanning

- Make sure that most of the captured scene is within
the scanner range

- Please read the FAQ at https://hege.sh/faq

The scanner isn't perfect and can fail when moving too fast or scanning a challenging environment (e.g. glass surfaces cannot be captured due to the nature of the TrueDepth sensor).

A NOTE FOR iPHONE 13 and 14 USERS: The iPhone 13 and 14 lineups introduced new TrueDepth (FaceID) camera designs, which produce lower-accuracy results compared to older devices.
To get best scan accuracy, consider using any iPhone 12 or older with FaceID.

= Color camera mode
============================
- Available for all devices

- Manual camera focus

- Sharing photos via built-in Wi-Fi server

= Why don't you make the app paid on the App Store? Why the annoying In-App Purchase?
============================

It's for protecting people with unsupported devices. (I wish I could make it paid directly on the App Store.)

Heges needs the 3D-sensing selfie FaceID camera to be able to capture 3D scans. But not all iPhones/iPads have the FaceID camera, so the app needs to check if your device has FaceID before it allows you to buy the app.

The App Store does not allow developers to check if your iPhone/iPad has FaceID, so the only way to check is if you download and open the app. Once you open Heges on your device, it will check if your device is compatible and if isn't, then you will not be able to buy it.

If you have any questions just drop me an email at support@hege.sh and I'll be happy to help you :)!

Scammed

I wouldn’t feel scammed if the app was priced for 9€ on the get go. Waste of time downloading this app.

There’s a difference between being scammed and feeling scammed. Fix your app instead of thinking you’re clever by charging people 9€ for a feature built in the phone. This won’t get you far as a developer.

Developer Response ,

EDIT: What!? Charging people for "a feature built in the phone"? Are you kidding me? Do you suggest I'm asking money for something that's already built in the phone? This is ignorant and rude — you clearly do not have the slightest idea how many years and sleepless nights I spent by developing this app! I am not "clever" about pricing; what you wrote doesn't even make sense. I am not charing people for "a feature", I am charing people one-time fee of 9 USD for an app I spent several years of my life working on. And then you come and say I'm "clever" about pricing… What exactly do you want me to do?

I'm not really sure what you feel scammed about. Is it the fact that I'm protecting people from buying an app that wouldn't work on their unsupported phone?

Do you understand that by making the app paid directly on the App Store (as you suggest), even people with unsupported devices could buy the app? And that would be an *actual* scam. Tell me how do you want me to "fix" this situation and I will gladly do it. By the way, Apple doesn't let developers check on the App Store if a user's device has FaceID — I asked them multiple times throughout the past 5 years together with other developers.

Tell me how would you solve this.

ORIGINAL ANSWER: Hello, how exactly were you scammed? I don't understand. Did your money get stolen (impossible on the App Store) or do you say that Heges does sometimg else than it claims (I don't think so, let me know)? You see, Heges protects people from being scammed, but you wrote you were scammed (more below).

Heges is an app that is paid up-front and I write it several times in the App Description. It sounds like you haven't read it, otherwise you wouldn't write this review (I assume you also haven't even tried using the app). Please do read the App Description (especially the end) and I am sure you will understand why I was forced to make the app free-to-download: in order to PROTECT people with unsupported devices from being scanmed. I would love to make the app paid directly on the App Store, but I chose NOT to scam people.

In other words: you are calling me a scammer because I protect people from being scammed and now I get "reviews" like yours from people who have not even tried the app nor read the App Description. Irony 🤦‍♂️.

If you want to discuss this, feel free to send me an email at support@hege.sh and I will gladly answer all of your questions.

Best regards,
Marek

Great app but…

First of all, I want to say that I have used this app many times and it really helped me on my personal projects. I really liked the results when I wanted more details out of scans, instead of using Polycam for example.
I used to have iPhone 11 when I started using this app and upgraded to iPhone 14 pro. I am still using the true depth sensor on the latest since I think can capture more detail than LiDAR. I don’t what is happening, but I think there is a hardware downgrade on the true depth sensor and the scan are not as detailed as they used to. Also, there are many times that the scanned object gets lost and it is like it is being stuck and not rotated. As a result, some of the scans are “glitched” is a way.
I don’t know if it is possible, but I think the app needs some adjustment to the newer iPhone models.

I don’t agree with how the previous reviewer is talking in such an impolite way about the app. I would say that is very good and it is one of the only apps that use an alternate method to scan, which is very useful. I can say that I have experimented with all 3D scanning techniques on the iPhones and every 3D scanning method has its use cases.

Developer Response ,

Hello, thank you for your review :)! You are right that the iPhone 14 has a downgraded FaceID camera sensor. It is not only iPhone 14 lineup, but also iPhone 13. I am currently working on an overhauled version of Heges that will significantly improve tracking, image quality and all other aspects of the app.

If you would have any questions, please send me an email at support@hege.sh and I'll be happy to help!

Thank you for using Heges,
Marek
