Queensland Rail Travel have developed a unique and interactive app to give customers the opportunity to listen to commentary while they sit back, relax and take in the many historical sites onboard the Kuranda Scenic Railway.
One can use a camera with the application to photograph the moments and upload them to social media. Users can use a map to view their current location to get a sense of where they are and where they're headed.
Experience one of the most unique rail journeys in Australia, discovering the living colour and natural beauty of a World Heritage-Listed rainforest that's millions of years old.
Riding the Kuranda Scenic Railway, you’ll meander through a lush green world, a tropical paradise framed by rugged mountains and waterfalls tumbling forever into deep ravines. Authentic timber carriages transport you between Cairns and the pretty village of Kuranda, via hand-hewn tunnels and across towering bridges, through the awe-inspiring Barron Gorge. Your senses will come alive to the exotic beauty of Far North Queensland’s wet tropical rainforests, marvelling at the incredible array of plants and animals encountered all along the way.
