Siemens Smart Thermostat RDS 4+

App needs a lot of improvement…

I was very excited to get the RDS110x the thermostat itself is great!! Once you are past the installation phase and get in to the everyday use the app works well and intuitively (easy setting schedules, timers, temperatures, etc). However the user experience isn’t that great getting there: 1) App is of no use whatsoever while installing the thermostat - you need to do everything on the thermostat - manuals are of little help when switching from an old analogue Siemens thermostat to thr rds110. After calling them, the local customer support has provided some additional instructions to do this. 2) Cannot activate the self-learning mode through the app - you need to do it on the thermostat. The manuals are of bo use here either. The local customer support again provided additional instructions. Self learning is still not working a week later. I suppose mine is a slow learner! :) 3) The manuals are very poor, the app could have included additional info. It doesn’t 4) the home/away button (switches the thermostat off) on the iPhone app is right where you swipe up to close the app so you end up closing the heating at the same time. Since, I paid €195 for the RDS110 to have the WiFi connectivity more than double of a non-WiFi Siemens thermostat (“REV24” goes for €85), I expected the app to offer much more than a graphic interface for scheduling.

Poor app for Siemens standards

It took one year to get an answer! In iPad the app never asks for login. Why is still asking in iPhone? At least introduce the fingerprint login!!!! And it would be great to have a website with all data available, including temperature trends, with open and close commands and an easier way to program. Also a help desk for the features of the operation modes ( slow, fast, self learning etc) and finally when will have remote wireless temperature sensors?!?! Thank you!

This depends on your own iPhone settings: if you have not activated the screen lock function, the app will indeed ask for a login every time you open it, to protect your security. Once you have a screenlock function, the app will use these data, and you will no longer be required to provide your user details. We will provide temperature and humidity trends in the next release of our mobile app, so stay tuned! As for help with the operation modes, the user manual can provide you guidenace on these, and else your installer should be abe to help you with these. Our first wireless solution will be released later this year. Separate sensor will not be part of that yet, but will follow later

App needs improvement

I have already 1 year the RDS 110. I am really happy how it controls the temp in my house, but still the app needs improves.
1. After last upd the app when I open (Ipad,Iphone) doesn’t open in full screen but only in a half of the screen, I have to close the app and open again and after it works.
2. When it counts the hours that is working the heating is better to count when gives signal or not and not in the total hours that you gives order to heat your room.
