Kitchen Stories serves up just about everything you could want from a cookery app: inspiring ideas, handy features (photos for every stage of the process! Auto-generated shopping lists!) and recipes that cater to a range of abilities and palates.
What we love: Following a recipe in Kitchen Stories feels a lot like having an expert walk you through the process. The recipe creators, a team of food editors and chefs, are warm and knowledgeable and the instructional videos outline skills, such as preparing garlic or making ganache, in precise detail. Searching “By stories” brings up food-themed editorial content packed with inspiration too.
Quick tip: Create and photograph your own recipes then share them with the app’s global community of home chefs, or fill a virtual cookbook with your favourite dishes in the Profile tab.
Meet the creator: Kitchen Stories was cooked up in 2014 by Berlin–based friends Mengting Gao, a seasoned hobby chef, and Verena Hubertz, a cooking novice. They have since devoted themselves to creating a cookery app that would work for them both.
