If you love listening to podcasts, have you ever considered making your own? With Anchor, recording podcasts is a breeze.

The app lets you capture audio with your iPhone or iPad, add background music, and slip in sound effects and songs without having to know the first thing about audio editing.

To start, tap the plus button in the middle of the toolbar. Hold your phone as if you are making a call and Anchor will start recording automatically.

Sometimes, when a person says a word like “rocket,” a 🚀 emoji falls from the top of the screen.

Want a co-host? Tap ”Invite friends to record with you“ and you’ll be able to record high-quality audio with up to seven other Anchor users. (The app connects everyone over Wi-Fi or through your phone network.)

Hear something you like? Tap the cover art to add it to an Apple Music playlist.

If you want to add music to your podcast, you can tap the music icon and log in to your Apple Music account. Anyone with a subscription to the service will be able to listen to the songs in their entirety on your broadcast. (Those who aren’t subscribers will still hear a clip.)

When you’ve finished stringing together recordings and songs, share your audio with other Anchor users as either a “station” or an “episode”. (Stations disappear after 24 hours, but episodes are archived so others can listen anytime.) You can then publish it as a podcast for all the world to hear.
