Lions might be king of the jungle and King Louie the King of the Swingers, but both pale in comparison with your newly appointed title: all hail the King of Crabs!
In this open world player-vs-player game you’re a crab with an attitude problem, scuttling around land, sea and shipwreck taking on other sideways-strutting critters in a battle to the death. And you’ve got to be a selfish shellfish to avoid your crustacean becoming a crushed-acean.
The more enemies you take down, and the more items you consume, the bigger you grow. And here, size matters.
When you’re small you’re quick and nimble, but you’re also pretty defenceless. As you gobble up other ocean dwellers – from clams and turtle hatchlings to rival crabs – you grow. And while bigger means brawnier – and more powerful – size comes with its downsides. Namely slightly sluggish movements and faster-burning energy levels.
It’s a race to the top, but one where balance is key. Helpfully, this beachy battleground is littered with objects you can use when claws just don’t cut it.
Swing a meat cleaver in one claw while gripping a shell-based shield in the other and no oversized lobster will want to mess with you. Upgrade or unlock different crab species and you’ll tackle battles in different ways.
Up to 100 real world opponents can face off against each other at any one time, and with new gamers joining as others get killed off every game you play ends in the same way – your death.
But that’s OK, it’s the thrill of the chase and battle to get to, and stay at, the crown-offering top that’s the real thrill. The King is dead, long live the King.
