Absence of Data Safety Specifications

There are plenty of other applications offering password management capabilities that specifies their data security measures and technical details, including the encryption protocols, whether the service providers (in this case, the government or the bureau responsible for its development) are of "zero-knowledge" of users' data, how data is stored etc. Not to mention 智方便 is developed by the government that data security has to be further guaranteed that clarifies and ensures the application is not directly or passively utilized for mass surveillance. If these concerns are addressed, I can foresee Hong Kong citizens will probably be more confident in adopting it.

Waste of taxpayer time and money

When your app cannot even get past the first stage of registration which requires you to take a picture of your ID card, this shows that the app hasn’t been sufficiently tested before it has been rolled out. The fact of the matter is, all the newest batch HKID Cards have a reflective surface and it is extremely difficult to take a photo of the ID card “without reflection”. This is not helped by the fact that the app was programmed to take the first photo of your ID card with the flash on (without any option to turn the flash off). This, in itself, almost guarantees that any pictures you take with the app will result in a picture of your ID Card with a reflection and which falls short of the requirements. As a result the most users are stuck in this infinite hell of not even being able to complete this first step. Perhaps the developer and the HKSAR Government should look into this fiasco of an app before trying to persuade us to adopt this? Would have thought this is a no-brainer!

I understand what you do for verifications but…

I literally banged my forehead to a wall, pulled a knife out to cut my wrist. The wall of frustration for registration and repeated failures in attempting that impossible task has sent me to a downward suicidal spiral. I need to call the hotline now. I just can’t take it anymore…I feel so sad, so depressed, so frustrated, so deflated after an hour of repeated failures. Not to mention another 30 mins prior, bouncing back from sites to sites, apps by apps just to reach this app. Please streamline the process, please simplify the redirections, please make it easier to get things done without making our phones possibly locked out forever. I can’t take this much…I tried to register and I failed…I gave up…
