I was very skeptical with all the mobile carriers that ask for two year contract. I had various, bad experience with all of them in Europe. So before arriving in HK I did my search on Facebook and so many people recommended. I had to give it a try and it is really nice, the registration is online, super easy with the app. I can pick up my sim immediately. It is prepaid, no hidden fee whatsoever. I actually so happy with Birdie that I registered for my wife, my kids also. Highly recommended service. Please note that they are doing it online only so please read carefully all the info, especially regarding your concern since there is no one to take your call and answer your questions.
Used for 1 month, quite good signal everywhere
I have had some questions about switching the service provider before... and I found that messaging their Facebook page to ask questions is the fastest way to get response from.
The local mobile service got quite good signals. I can even play real time MOBA game when I am traveling on an MTR.

Stable service. Just need to learn how it works.
Make sure you activate the service in app 24 hours ahead. Put the SIM in, set cellular data options > network > APN to internet. If there is no signal, eject SIM > shutdown > insert SIM > star again.
Customer service definitely needs an upgrade, not everyone like to use Facebook for service assistance. Just imagine you signed up a service with a robot, once you are up and running, you don’t need CS. Read FAQ helps a lot.
If you ask for help by leaving a message from the app, they may call you back later in a few days instead of a quick reply in-app or email.
I wish this is a native app that use Swift for a responsive UX design instead of a dumb web app. Sluggish loading from time-to-time, touch unfriendly layout of many forum functions.
After all, worth supporting for the simple pricing, Apple Pay payment, straight forward service activation/management and P2P data feature. Looking forward to support the eSIM, and forget about the messy SIM business.
