It gives me a platform to learn foreign languages and it is good that we can hear as many times as we want before moving on. Quizzes with interactive styles like spelling and speaking tests do help us bush up the vocabularies that we have just learned. Stepwise approach allows us to follow the learning plan effectively. I think the best part of this app is that it can link us to the overseas native speakers, letting us make friends with each other and help with each other’s pronunciation or gramma specifically:)I hope the app can be further improved and modified in two areas. First, more basic knowledge of languages like the alphabets can be introduced to beginners. As a beginner of German, I actually found it hard to follow in lesson 2 when it taught me how to say some simple conservations, like ‘How old are you’, as I don’t have a German foundation. Second, it is hoped that even more languages can be learnt from your app, like Cantonese. In general, this app is really fascinating and user-friendly for language lovers. I believe that this app will be of great success by following my above suggestions:)

I’ve taken years of language classes and used a lot of different language apps. I think this is one of the best out there. Even with the free version you can access all of the main courses, and they teach you phrases that the natives actually use, instead of “I am an apple” (I’m genuinely surprised when I see them teaching “vabbè”. I’ve never seen any books or apps teaching that. I picked that word up while talking to Italians)I also really like the function where you can have your phrases corrected by natives. I’ve tried language exchange apps like that before but only people who are learning your mother tongue can see and correct your posts, while on this app, everyone who speak the language you are learning can help you. Besides, the other language exchange apps are usually full of creeps who had no intentions learning new languages. For the Japanese course, I am not sure if it’s just me, but I feel like maybe the B2 lessons are a bit too easy. They still teaches とか, which I remember learning when I was a beginner. I could be wrong though, I’m more used to the N1-5 system for Japanese. One thing that I hope is that they could add more languages, and/or higher levels for languages they already have, but I am sure it would be more likely to happen if more people study them.As a language nerd I just can’t believe that I haven’t discovered this app sooner!

Great way to brush up or review

I learnt Spanish at uni but haven’t used since and most of vocabularies. It’s a great way to review the lost words/phrases. I’ve been brushing up my French and Italian on busuu too! I guess this app is more useful for the people who have some knowledge of the language they’re trying to learn on. I tried Russian but I’ve never learnt so I gave up. I use another free app to learn the basics and how to read first before starting to learn on busuu again. Wish there were more selections of languages such as Indonesian, Tagalog, Cantonese and more advanced courses above B2 like C1-2 levels for currently serviced languages as finishing all the courses seem quite easy for the people who have already learnt the language in the past.

I have used Busuu for a year and basically I found the experience very rewarding. I have a few suggestions on the app functions which may probably help users to better keep track on their study. First, the day learnt may change to a calendar-like layout to record the days of study, like a habit tracker. Second, adding a monthly review / quiz / rewind to let users to keep track their learning ( e.g grammar, vocabulary ). Hope these two functions may take into consideration!
