Great UI but the functionality needs to be improved

The UI is great, which gives me a high expectation. Sadly, the function itself is not good. The pronunciation function is not working at all. The word list(card view) does not update after adding the word of the day, until killing the app and reopen it. Intuitively, I expect clicking the word of the day leads me to the dictionary session, but it just does nothing. Not wrong, but not friendly enough. I’m a Cantonese speaker so I usually use the English-Chinese dictionary. There’s no way, or I couldn’t find a way to set the English-Chinese dictionary in default. Every time I’ll have to click the “three dots” to set it, and it restores to English after killing the app…:( I love Cambridge dictionary. Despite having some dictionary apps installed on my phone, I’d still rather go to the website version of Cambridge even It’s inconvenient comparing to the other apps. Please fix and improve the app!!! I will not think twice to pay you but I need a proper dictionary! Thanks

Updates: yes it need to turn the sound on. If so, I would suggest making it pronounce without this step. The reason why I said I could make it speak and not questioning about my sound setting, is I’ve tried with the other dictionary app installed on my phone, they could speak even my phone was muted.🙏🏻

Developer Response ,

Please could you check if your phone is on silent (ring/silent switch on the side of the device)? This has been the main issue for the sound issues being reported. If your phone is on silent the audio will not work unless you are using headphones. Let us know how you get on and if this does not resolve the issue. Thank you for your suggestions for improvement, I will share this with our product team. If you have any further feedback please do send us a message at dictionary@cambridge.org. Thank you, Nabila (Cambridge Dictionary +Plus)

Great interface but it’s lacking thesaurus!

The UI is very nice and clean compared to the other dictionary apps. However the lack of thesaurus is a huge disappointment. Website version still beats this app unless you developers put thesaurus in the app.

Developer Response ,

Thank you for your review. I have passed on your feedback to add the thesaurus to the app to the product team. Thank you, Nabila (Cambridge Dictionary +Plus)

Inconvenience

I go into the page of my word list. I press the word in the word list and check their meaning. After that , I press the button at the top left corner to try return to the page of the word list. However I return to the home page and i need to go into the word list again. It is quite inconvenient and time-consuming. How can I return to the page of my word list instead of the home page??

Developer Response ,

Hi, thank you for your feedback, and sorry for the frustration. I have passed this on to our product team who will look into this. Thank you, Nabila (Cambridge Dictionary +Plus)
