All Cases Now Free?

Normally I would be amazed by companies who make games free for players without an annoying amount of ads. But now all cases are free, what happens to the 10 usd people paid at the beginning? It doesn’t make sense, what do we get for paying? I will remove the bad review once someone explains the logic to me.

As a Season Pass holder, you have all Cases completely unlocked and you may play the entire story at your leisure. Players who don’t have a Season Pass must unlock all the Turn of Events levels by collecting badges.
